So I guess they think this score fits the international people because they feel as though Funimation knows best for the outside world?
I'm fairly certain Toei would've had more involvement than that. I figured they would've at least been informed of the whole replacement score thing. I don't think they own the rights to it, though.

For those who have seen the Japanese version, about how many of those Faulconer-ish tracks are there? I'm not familiar with Sumitomo's overall style, having not watched Kai or Battle of Gods yet.

Thanks Kei17. Can't wait to do a full review of this. Everyone besides Gohan sounds so fucking amazing! I miss hearing "APPA" coming out of a DBZ character's mouth.

What?! The Cell Games puppet show is hilarious. Short enough to not be annoying and you get to see exactly how Satan spun the tale of Cell's defeat. How is it 'truly awful'?

Extra hilarious is also the two completely different ways the Japanese and English versions did it. While in the original it is played completely serious, as if it really is a serious adaption of events that did (not) happen, the dub went the other way and had the actors sound as bland as possible, making it seem like a really cheap adaption.

I actually hope it will be the same again for both sides.

I've heard about this scene. Looking forward to it when I see the Buu arc for the first time. And as for Kai. Funi, I know you guys are much closer to the original nowadays, but please ham this up as much as possible!

Then again, what about the music? Did they have anything cheesy in that department?

Agreed. I think this was one of the few scenes where I actually preferred the dub's take. I think the cheesy comedy aspect FUNi went with worked really well.

I wonder how that works with the Kikuchi and Sumitomo scores, though.

Either way, Looking forward to The Final Chapters as well. It looks like it actually is better paced than the Japanese version. (Although, I can't say for myself yet)

I think it's fair to say that I'm alone in not enjoying this scene so much lol.

Anyhow, does anyone know where episode #8 ended?

Seeing as how we have these clips now, has anyone recorded high quality versions of the opening and ending yet?

I've been trying to grab them but for some reason they didn't show when I was watching. I'll try and get them again when Kai airs again.

Here's next week's Episode title for "The Final Chapters":

"9화 모두 기절초풍! 오천과 트랭크스의 엄청난 배틀!!"

It translates to pretty much the same as Japanese #103 "Everyone is Shocked! Goten and Trunks’ Super Battle!!"

I have a feeling the whole episode will cover the Juniors' Division.

At the moment, the difference between the Japanese & the International is around 4 episodes - I have a theory that in the next couple of weeks, the International Version will catch up (possibly the episode where the Z fighters leave with Kaioshin) and from that point, the rest of the episodes (at least up until Majin Vegeta) will be the same as Japan.

I think they will look to cut around 5 episodes worth of content (for Japan) between each quarter, so the International version will have a change of ending at #19, again, probably completely way off, but it is only a theory.

I think that's plausible, but I highly doubt The Final Chapters has multiple ending themes. There's no reason to have more than one, since they're not selling the songs. They just needed an opening and an ending. The bare minimum. They most likely don't have full versions either. I DO think the animation changes at some point, though. The animation for Junjo seems very slapped on, even when compared to the others.

I very much doubt we'll have new songs, but the animation will surely change. My feeling is the half way point will be Goku going SS3 against Majin Buu (midway point of the original Z), changing the final shot of the opening from SS2, to SS3 (like Japan).

I think by the halfway point, they'll have cut evenly, around 11.5 episodes, then by that point, Japan will be around #25, and International #35.

I'm just theorizing, but I'm convinced the opening will change as the Story progresses - Super Buu, Gotenks & Vegito will appear in the opening during the Fusion saga.
