Mine shipped on Friday in US hours. It seems like there's been a high demand for it compared to the August issue (which you can still buy new), so maybe it's gotten backordered.

Granted we're only 2 chapters in (almost 3) do you think this will be the only printing of this manga (only in the Vjumps)?

Well I think it was mentioned that there would be 3 arcs, and 100 episodes? Assuming the manga/anime keep pace with one another, that'd be 2, or more likely 3 tankoubon. I think it'd make sense for a release, right?

That would be a pretty decent size. I hope they do it. Does anything from Vjump get tankoubon releases?

The 21st :)
Pre-Order:
Amazon: http://www.amazon.co.jp/gp/product/B013 ... ge_o01_s00
CDJapan: http://www.cdjapan.co.jp/product/NEOBK-1703157 (says Out of Print, but may come back in stock)
I was just thinking. The manga version of this fight was literately copied from BOG after Goku goes SSJ3. I wonder if Toyotaro didn't like how the fight was choreographed in Super?

I see, thanks. Still a long way to go. I'm pretty sure no one liked how Toei handled the fight in Super.

I've noticed that the Yu-Gi-Oh Zexal manga has been getting tankoubon releases, and it seems most other long running V Jump series get them too. So there's a good chance Super will start getting volumes down the line, once enough chapters have been published.

Incidentally, the September issue is available again, if anyone still wanted/needed it.

It's too rushed for a shonen manga; I'm not interested in it.

As opposed to the show that's meandering like nothing else we've seen in DB? At least I get the feeling the manga knows we've already seen this s*it before and isn't wasting our time.

The meandering from the filler in Z isn't so bad because on a first viewing you're experiencing it for the first time so it doesn't annoy you as much. Supers first viewing is already leagues more groan inducingly boring than a fifth viewing of say the original Z fight between Goku and Freeza. The material its retelling isn't even half a decade old! Why is it being remade?! Its annoying and makes no sense!

Assuming one didn't read the manga before, you mean.
As an adaptation, Super is much faster paced than DB/Z, that's a given.

If you mean the manga adaptation of Super then yes, its much faster than DB or Z.

If you mean the show then I can't agree at all. The pacing is terrible in comparison to what its retelling. We've had 5 episodes of Super, each about 20 minutes long not counting openings and endings making the current content about 100 minutes long. Battle of Gods the extended cut is that long and that's the whole story, Super is barely halfway through in the same time the extended cut finished the whole BoG arc in a satisfactory way.

The material the shows reworking isn't old enough to warrant a remake of it nor is it doing a remotely good job of adding anything good to the proceedings to overcome the first problem.

There was nothing holding them back from splicing the films into episodes, episode 1 and 2 can happen (without Beerus and Whis) and then they can splice BoG into episodes and we'll be near done now and then maybe a few more slice of life eps and the splice "F" however I do think they didn't and the slow pace of the retelling is them trying to buy time for the Universe 6 arc, the way Toriyama talked about it it seems that he was in the middle of drafting the story and designs ("I think things will unfold in a bright and simple way, that will be really fun and exciting! Since it’s another universe, loads of new characters will turn up. I’ll do my best to draw the tons of character designs necessary, so I’m looking forward to this too."), there is not much filler wise they can do so retelling the movies I guess was the most sensible thing they could have done.

Or here's an idea, just wait until the Universe Six arc gets far enough into production then start the series from where FnF left off. Hell, they could probably get some side teams to do OVAs showing Vegeta attain SSJG or any number of other things to hold people over but if fans could wait 18 years between GT and BoG to get some new animated content, I can't see why waiting until 2016 would be too much.

I agree however there was a blank slate in the TV schedule (now that Kai ended) which might not have become available again and Dragon Ball was very hot with the success of "F" and Xenoverse so I don't blame them for fast-tracking the series, it did seem like a last minute decision, (well not exactly last minute since they announced about a month or so after "F", my guess is they saw how well "F" did and noticed Kai was finishing soon and though hey lets make a new series!), oh well we are here now.

Remember he most excruciatingly slow parts of Z you can and then approach them with the knowledge that just as many viewers in the original audience were already familiar with the events (via manga chapters they'd read just some months before) as would be now via Battle of Gods.

You may find Battle of Gods better paced than Super, but viewing Super as an original story, it's moving much more briskly than Z.

Z took like ... four, five? ... episodes just to get through its Mecha-Freeza/Trunks bit. That was a fairly well-paced portion and I just want to point out how unbearable that would have seemed on a weekly schedule. At its nadir in the late Namek arc? Man, just imagine if the Internet had existed to discuss sluggish pacing on a weekly basis then. Also, remember, again, these events would already be familiar to the audience via the manga.

Like many members here, you probably watched Z air on a daily basis with little/no knowledge of its events, which is quite a different experience. But if you were to transpose Super onto the same set of circumstances, I think you'd find it well-paced in comparison.

You're 100% right, and if Battle of Gods came out a long time ago, like say a decade ago and I hadn't re-watched it since I'd probably be able to approach this with a closer mentality to what you're describing. But I can't, because BoG was made a big deal again less than a year ago with both an extended cut AND the dub finally coming out its just really jarring seeing it remade this fast. Especially if what @BaggieSaiyan said is true and they're just doing it to keep a time slot occupied with a DB related thing.
