Uchiyama gets a lot of hate but his movement animation was pretty fluid, his stuff was just off model as all hell.

It's the same key animation. They just changed the color effect, which is pretty easy.

This preview is giving me some hope that maybe upcoming episodes start to get better.

I know that, but the fact that it was changed so late, the production is so down the toilet hope it gets better in the near future

That's not really a change, that kind of effect being absent in the preview only to be added in the final episode is pretty common. People who pay attention enough probably realized that it happens often in One Piece too, for instance - like previews missing the bright Gear 2nd spots on Luffy's body. Those are additions, not changes.

The NEP looks great, super excited. I can't believe we have to wait two weeks! Hopefully they actually take this extra week to work on the episode and future ones as well.

That's because Uchiyama never animated the good parts of his episodes himself. He had Obara Tai'ichirou or Shida Naotoshi do so.

Uchiyama just had a DB'ish syle in the art, which didn't blend well with the DBZ context and most definitely didn't blend well with the rest of the episodes.

I love how they decided to add a purple tone to when Frost leaps in front of Piccolo and then give everything a negative colour when he shoots him.
This one was the best moment of the episode! A lot of ups and downs in terms of model, but it was one of those rare cases when the plot is bigger than the animation.

Not really, actually this one of things that I hate most in the anime, why invert colors in mid-heavy violence scenes? (for example: Gohan x Cell Juniors, Gohan x Bojack and his henchman)

What Frost did was like what Imperfect Cell did with Piccolo before and they didn't used the same effect, also the hole is chest and his regeneration, man that was so poor...

Jeez, Yashima almost soloing another episode. Tu Yeong-chaek's only ever been a 2nd key animator before, and I have no clue who Yokoyama Miyuki is, aside from the fact they share a name with a Japanese porn star. Maybe don't google that at work!

Crazy stuff. I'm surprised the fight had as much movement as it did! Yashima may not be popular, but he's certainly capable of shitting out an episode in record time. I hope this is a move to give animators to the later, more important episodes.

It probably is. If Yashima had six or seven episodes between his he would easily be able to solo.

With Yashima doing the most work for Episode #34, and the show taking a break next week, it has a little good chance to give the animation staff a room to breathe, now that a new series director has been added to the team.

Does the next episode look like Tadayoshi Yamamuro is going to be an animation supervisor, based on the preview?

My guess for next week is Karasawa Yuichi. I dont think yamamuro because he is probably working on the new ending but who knows.

I don't think it looks quite like Yamamuro, but the on model shots look pretty darn good, especially some of the Vegeta ones. I could be wrong though.

On a side note, will the week break help significantly? I'm not familiar with how week breaks are typically handled by staff. I'm hoping the next episode starts a bit of a turnaround for the last part of the tournament.

A week break helps things a little but is not anything game changing.Just gives more time to a supervisor to correct things.

That's what I figured but I didn't know if it's typical for them to even be capitalized on.

It's too early for Karasawa Yuichi to supervise the next episode. She worked on #31, so it will be a few more before her episode airs.
