I can't imagine it's going to be any worse than heya son goku was... the animation in that wasn't bad. Animation is ramped up the most in pivotal scenes, especially fights. This is true throughout all of Dragon Ball. Animation for video game openings and things of that nature are usually of a higher quality, you can't expect an entire movie to consistently keep up with that level when you're talking over an hour of animation versus a minute or so.

Those commentaries were awful to listen to >_> The animation does look good, though, even though it has not much to do with the upcoming DBZ movie... (Yes, I know toei animates One Piece and DBZ, but still)

Yes, OPZ does look good, but I thought the same back when I saw the first commercials for it that had just a few short scenes. I am very sad to say that I wasn't as impressed with the animation I saw for the DB movie trailer. A lot of people say they'd be satisfied if we at least got the same quality the 2008 special got. I....wasn't that impressed with that animation either. It ok, but definetely not what I'd expect to see from a movie.

I think the animation will look a lot better in a cinema than on a computer screen, although I would've like to have seen more oranges and reds in the colour palette to give it that cinematic feel.

That is just beautiful.. damn. :D

I will be willing to bet my left nut that the animation in BOG will be nowhere like that quality in OPZ.

Watch how this'll be 45 minutes long.

Doubt it, it's being screened as a stand-alone feature.

This ain't the '90s no more.

Which is sad.... and a little bit infuriating.
I'm still holding on to hope that what we've seen isn't the best this movie will have to offer since from what I have understood , it isn't finished yet.

I've said it before, and I'll say it again: all the 45-minute films were screened as double- or triple-features, not counting featurettes. As a standalone production, it's bound to be at least 90 minutes or so, if not longer.

I'm hoping the animation will be at least as good as the first 3 Z movies.

Distributed by Saburo Yatsude
Toei Co. Ltd

Release date(s) August 8, 2009

Running time 20 minutes

That movie was shorter than regular episodes of Shinkenger (and being Super Sentai, it is done by Toei).

Toei is notoriously bad about putting out short movies and packing them together. The Saint Seiya movies, for instance, were mostly 45 minutes long, except for the third (75 minutes) and fifth (85 minutes) movies. So were several of the DBZ movies (though, not all of them).

Expecting Toei to put out a reasonably lengthed movie when advertised next to One Piece? Not likely. Toei puts most of their time and money into the headliner. Just ask every single Super Sentai movie paired with a Kamen Rider movie (especially ones backed with an anniversary movie or major crossover, like Shinkenger's was).

Still, I would love a long movie and for Toei to break this bad habit of theirs.

The movie you posted above was screened with another film, Battle of Gods is a stand-alone feature.

While that maybe true, it is being paired in advertising with the One Piece movie, and very few Toei movies go on long at all (the longest I can remember off the top of my head are Kamen Rider x Super Sentai: Super Hero Wars at 89 minutes, Saint Seiya: Heaven Chapter-Overture at around 85 minutes, and Gokaiger Goseiger Super Sentai 199 Hero Grand Battle, coming in just a bit over 80 minutes, and those were rare exceptions from my normal Toei movie experience).

I want these to be long movies, I'm just trying to say, Toei tends to short change movie lengths more often than not. If they don't, I'm glad. Just warning you guys in advance as a long time Toei fan (much to my own suffering, lol).

From what I've seen, recent One Piece movies tend to run at 90+ minutes so based on that we should be fine in terms of run time, besides wouldn't you prefer a short, but entertaining 70 minute feature, than a boring, drawn out 100 minute-plus feature?

I'll be content with 80 minutes at the minimum.

Forgive me, but after having sat through a movie shorter than every single episode of the show it's from, I'm a little paranoid as to what to expect from a movie (though I did get a good rant out of it).

Personally, I'd love an entertaining 100 minute-plus movie. Long doesn't mean boring if you've got the right story and don't botch the execution.

I honestly don't mind what the length is, as long as it's appropriate. They shouldn't just extend the length of a film just for the sake of making it longer. It's like how most 60+ hour games really don't have to be so drawn out. If they want to make the run time longer they should add some J-SAT inspired material in the beginning and end.

Dead Zone's animation was really fluid.

I think at least 65 minutes seems likely. Hopefully that they will release a director's cut.
