"Dragon Ball Super" Series Official Announcement & Discussion Thread
Re: "Dragon Ball Super" Official Announcement & Discussion Thread
Hmm...I've been thinking for the longest time, but I really hate how linear the storytelling for this series is. I'm sure it's this way due to the poor production schedule, but I do wish that there was less fluff. Everything we learned from the scenes with Dende and Beers in Episode #86 could have been easily re-arranged in a tighter manner.

Re: "Dragon Ball Super" Official Announcement & Discussion Thread
Definitely Toriyama because of the fusion of Vegetto, guess he couldn't make Vegetto work in the ResF outfits. And in this arc Goku might have a new form hence still the old gi and they kept Vegeta probably for consistency.ArchedThunder wrote:Toyotaro also reverted the outfits, so it might have been Toriyama's decision.Jinzoningen MULE wrote:What makes you think that was a choice made by Toei? It's possible, but Toriyama could just as easily have suggested it.Chuquita wrote:They ditched Gokû and Vegeta's new dougi and armor. There's no reason for Vegeta to go back to his antiquated Cell arc armor when Bulma made him newer, better armor.
And they still used the new designs for two arcs, the idea that this design won't be used at all is pretty ridiculous.
They copy Toriyama's designs exactly, even down to blue hair for Trunks.
Plus the pony tail design doesn't look any more like Broly.
They probably want to keep Toriyama happy hence why they stuck with Trunks hair etc or Toriyama specifically requested them to keep it.
It was definitely for narrative purposes, we haven't got Toriyama's design for SSGSS in old gi yet or regular SS form in the ResF gi (for the U6 arc) it's like you said it's not that hard to figure out.dbzfan7 wrote: I am saying they don't need a design from Toriyama to do SSJ Goku Black. It's been around for like over 20 years. I'm joking that I doubt it was a design choice, but rather a narrative one probably.
Re: "Dragon Ball Super" Official Announcement & Discussion Thread
I think what's more important is that Toriyama left the outline so vague that both the manga and anime can basically pick whatever form they want for them to fight in.Beerus-sama wrote:Sorry, just analysed the text again and I wasn't aware of the たり (tari) termination in japanese (still learningMisteryOne wrote:This has been talked about a lot of times. The text is pretty clear and it speaks about TWO forms: SS and a «SS with a slightly different colour from Goku's».Beerus-sama wrote:I think the SSJ he was refering to was Rosé and not normal SSJ, since after he says Black can also transform into SSJ like Goku, he says in the same sentence that he transforms in a SSJ whose color is slightly different than Goku's.
Also, notice how all that japanese text is pointing to Rosé in the design. If he was refering also to normal SSJ then there should have been a respective design as well, me thinks...
Why would they need a design for SS Black? Its extremely obvious how he looks.), so I just thought the text was talking about the same form.

Either way, maybe its obvious but you could still put it there just to show the form.
All we know is that at some point SSR beats SSB Vegeta, Vegeta trains and comes back and beats SSR Black. To be honest, judging from the differences in the fight, that appears to be the entire extent of Toriyama's fight description aside from the Containment wave and Potara fusion.

Looks like the saiyan girl presented in the magazine is the same of the preview, with her design modified

I'm sure there will be more Saiyans coming up. Champa did ask for plural.MrBlackFox wrote:Looks like the saiyan girl presented in the magazine is the same of the preview, with her design modified

Plural as in Cabba + 1? LOL this is most likely going to be it. Having this many saiyans in the tourney could get boring. Goku, Vegeta, Gohan, Cabba, F-saiyan, wow that's a lot!

Yeah I am now actually sure that, that was a different Saiyan from FemB after the evidence others have presented aswell as like you said Champa asked for plural Saiyans.BlueBasilisk wrote:I'm sure there will be more Saiyans coming up. Champa said bring me more Saiyans not bring me another Saiyan. We will have 5 humans and half a human hybrid in the tournament don't see the problem with more Saiyans especially if designed uniquely like they have.MagmonKai wrote:Plural as in Cabba + 1? Working in another reference to Uub doesn't need to be an entire scene unto itself. Simply have Gokuu or someone else mention it eventually. The entire Dende scene would have ideally been replaced with a scene without dialogue and music of #17 starting his day and then coming across the poachers, only for Gokuu to show up in the middle of the day. The episode is framed from Gokuu's point of view, when it would be much better to frame it from #17's. The Beers scene near the end is completely out of sync with the rest of the episode. It should have been replaced with wildlife stills of the island's wild life to act as a smooth transition.jeffbr92 wrote:What do you mean?JulieYBM wrote:Everything we learned from the scenes with Dende and Beers in Episode #86 could have been easily re-arranged in a tighter manner.
At the very least the flashbacks in the episode proper should have been longer, too. Those just breezed by. It would've been much smarter to play those entire scenes from Dragon Ball Kai out so as to say cuts and in-between drawings.

It's just a different way to doing it, I don't think they way they did it was any worse. Doing it from Goku's point of view makes sense.JulieYBM wrote:Working in another reference to Uub doesn't need to be an entire scene unto itself. I think making an entire scene was intentional as to create buildup. It being mentioned wouldn't be the same.JulieYBM wrote:Working in another reference to Uub doesn't need to be an entire scene unto itself. Simply have Gokuu or someone else mention it eventually. 17's point of view could have been neat.
I actually don't remember the Beerus scene at the end, so I guess it was out of place.
The flash backs were fine, this isn't Naruto where the entire episode is flashbacks

I made a bet with Alee9977 that Vegeta won't be beaten quickly by an opponent. If I lose, I switch my avatar to Vegeta getting beat by hit. If I win, he switches it to Vegeta holding Black by his hair. This will last a month.

Yeah, the time they spent on the Uub scene tells me that it was considered important. Hopefully we don't have to spend too much longer waiting for the pay off on that.kinisking wrote: I think making an entire scene was intentional as to create buildup. It being mentioned wouldn't be the same.

There's no build up or energy to the Dende scene. Ending #85 with Gokuu going off to search for #17 and then stalling for five minutes at the beginning of the next episode completely kills any suspense. You knock your viewer off their feet a lot harder by actually starting out with #17, becoming invested in his storyline and then having Gokuu show up to sync everything up.kinisking wrote:I think making an entire scene was intentional as to create buildup. Episode #86 should have only had Gokuu and #17 have speaking roles to increase the intimacy and highlight their relationship.
Re: "Dragon Ball Super" Official Announcement & Discussion Thread
Your way of doing things make sense but I don't really consider what they did as bad. It's perfectly acceptable.
87 seems to be the episode where they'll highlight their relationship .

I think Vegeta's going to find out about the stakes of the tournament in the next episodes based on that shot of him in the NEP. He's going to overhear Beerus and Whis and blow his top.

I initially understood that girl was another one, but today seemly more accurate translations points to the female Broly being the one depicted in that magazine
I'm confused lol

Also, speaking about team members, i'm strangely starting to have a weird sensation that someone in U7 team will be replaced in an unexpected way
