EOZ takes place before GT anyway, so it makes no difference. What I mean is that they've been doing things with no regards to how that affects GT, like god forms. It seems rather obvious to me Trunks and Goten are being "saved" for the next arc where they're older teenagers, as well as the obvious focus Pan and Uub are likely to get. Nothing about that quote says that Super he series will continue. Also the "secret" after the tournament could very well be a new project and not specifically Super related.
