I know. Was just mentioning it bombed originally, then made a lot of money on video and is now a cult clssic even among non-Transfans.laserkid wrote:Except that movie's actually GOOD.Super Sonic wrote:Way it was managed and promoted, most I can see right now is it becoming a cult classic a la the 1986 Transformers movie.

Err, your original quote was that Kevin Smith movies barely make back their budget. I showed that, with the exception of Mallrats, they usually make a respectable profit. So...sorry, but I'm confused. Where did DVD sales come from in that exchange? I didn't even cite those figures...Kendamu wrote:From "An Evening With Kevin Smith" and "Kevin Smith 2: Evening Harder." He says that it's actually the DVD sales that make or break a lot of movies in terms of whether or not it was a good investment for the studio.

Assuming that roughly 3,000 copies are sold, they'll make $45-Million.
And anyway, I can't exactly see them going "well, that barely broke even, let's make another!"
That's where I got $45-Million from.
That's where I got $50 million from. Notice yours is dated 3/30, and mine is 4/8. So, I'm assuming since it has a source the later article supersedes the earlier one.
Plus, before DVD/Blu-ray sales could be taken into account, you'd have to see what the expenses were for mastering and replicating those discs, as well as packaging and advertisements, etc. So, it'd add on more negative value before it'd even go towards making the movie profitable overall.

*Wonders if it'll hit 10 before taken out of theaters*.
I've heard they advertised on Nick and CN, and I think someone mentioned Spike in one of the threads; but did they ever advertise on FX or local FOX stations? I'd find it odd if they didn't; doesn't it cost much less money to advertise on your own stations? I remember seeing ads for Hannah Montana's movie on ABC, and ABC is Disney.

I can totally see that first one, but Twilight-Guy as Vegeta? Meh. I don't know how his acting is, but I'd rather have them choose a guy who at least looks more like Vegeta (in facial and body structure) and has some muscle mass to him.
Also you'd need someone petite. I don't want to see a 6 foot tall Vegeta. That'd be absurd. O_O;;
I mean, with Marsters (who I hear is short) you can pull off making him look taller with cgi and certain styles of shoe, but its hard to make someone really tall look short in a convincing manner.

Hey, I watched Smallville (up until this last season), and I am an ol skool fan of Dawson’s Creek so stuff like that does not bother me.Dr. Casey wrote:He won't be the Vegeta you know, Professor. The Saiyans are very much like the Klingons and Jem'Hadar.
Off-topic: this season's Smallville is all over the place, relying very heavily on DC cameos. However, Doomsday was spot on in regards to how he looks in the comics. That alone redeemed the entire season (but...they made his origin a mutation of Kal-El's fraternal twin...Saiyan-Professor wrote:Hey, I watched Smallville (up until this last season), and I am an ol skool fan of Dawson’s Creek so stuff like that does not bother me.Dr. Casey wrote:He won't be the Vegeta you know, Professor. On-topic: oh wow, a profit? That pretty much guarantees at least a DTV sequel. I'm impressed.

To be honest, I'd love a scenario like what I just described, too. XD I'd rather have high school drama than hardkore, x-treme Super Saiyan action.Saiyan-Professor wrote:Hey, I watched Smallville (up until this last season), and I am an ol skool fan of Dawson’s Creek so stuff like that does not bother me. :)Dr. Casey wrote:He won't be the Vegeta you know, Professor. And I liked Dawson's Creek a lot, too, though I never finished the series. Did Dawson and Jody end up together in the end? I hope they did. :(
