FUNimation has grown as a company since then, if they did the same level job as they are doing on One Piece, a Kai dub could be amazing.

I really dislike being labeled as a "complaining hater" for wanting a proper dub of the series. All I want is dubbed Buu saga script accuracy for the Freeza and Cell sagas along with the correct names and terminology. I don't really think that is out of the question. (Maybe a small voice cast change as well.)Innagadadavida wrote:I'd like it if only to see how the haters will find a way to continue their hate after getting what they've been complaining for.Taku128 wrote:But most dub fans are content with their current dub, and most people who aren't are content with the Japanese version. Most of the cast is ok as-is, only changes I'd make are to recast SOME of Sabat's roles, and recast Freeza.NeptuneKai wrote:I really dislike being labeled as a "complaining hater" for wanting a proper dub of the series. If I could just see Freeza, Recoome and North Kai recast I'd be a happy camper.

I'd rather have every Character recast.NeptuneKai wrote:If I could just see Freeza, Recoome and North Kai recast I'd be a happy camper.
Get rid of Schemmel, replace all of Sabat's roles, Sonny Strait is outta there, and basically anyone else who talks.
And the effeminate male voices for extras, who's idea was that? But if they did dub this and they kept all of the voices the same... I will eat the hat I am wearing...

Most of the cast have grown as actors, Sonny Strait is just plain amazing nowadays. I loved him as Hughes in FMA and ESPECIALLY as Usopp in One Piece. He'd make a great Kuririn.
Most of Sabat's roles need recasting, this is true, and I doubt Schemmel would even come back considering he's had that falling out with FUNi. Doing video games is one thing, coming back to do a 100+ Episode series is another entirely.
And they'd better not touch Chris Rager as Mark.

Christopher R. Sabat's SOULLESS performance(in comparison to the heavenly vocal chords of Furukawa-san) in the series will forever cripple Doragon Boru of having a good dub. The script can be so accurate, seven minutes of every episode could be straight Japanese, and Sabat's smokey, unfitting voice would still just RUIN it all.

I think Sabat's Vegeta and Piccolo are okay nowadays. As soon as he stopped attempting to sound like the Saban cast the charachters were much more bearable. I really enjoy Sonny as Kurririn, I can not think of a much better suited voice for him. Sonny is a great actor and his readings for Kurririns more goofy lines always make me laugh. Anyway I don't believe for a second Sean would be replaced if they did a redub, they'd go without dubbing Kai before ditching him as Goku.

... I will never look at them the same way again. The Time Traveller wrote:

Sounds almost exactly like Piccolo, to be honest with you. And Usopp sounds almost exactly like Krillin. And Bellamy sounds almost exactly like Raditz.DemonRin wrote:Not if they let him act like he does in One PieceB wrote:Christopher R. It's not that they've all become better VAs; they've become better writers.

For the most part I think it's how they read the lines and the emotion they put behind the reading more then anything else. But I do agree that improving the script comes first.B wrote:Sounds almost exactly like Piccolo, to be honest with you. And Usopp sounds almost exactly like Krillin. I don't really think he cares what you think. He's worked his ass off in the Dragonball franchise and has plenty of his own fans.B wrote:Christopher R. I'd be up for a new dub, espicially if they recast Freeza. I'm typically against recasts, but a proper characterization plus Young's Freeza still wouldn't mix well.
uum... his Piccolo sounds like he's been smoking for years, his Zoro doesn't.B wrote: Sounds almost exactly like Piccolo, to be honest with you. And Usopp sounds almost exactly like Krillin. And Bellamy sounds almost exactly like Raditz.

His Zoro actually sounds like his normal voice from when I heard him in interviews.
It's not the tone of voice, it's the acting Quality.
In One Piece, his acting is Stellar, as is pretty much the whole cast.

I'd actually argue he recently moved into just speaking for Piccolo as well, with the slight edge of a bark whenever Piccolo's being gnarly. This is exactly why I want a redub. I want this quality of voice work consistently throughout the show.JulieYBM wrote:I'd actually argue he recently moved into just speaking for Piccolo as well, with the slight edge of a bark whenever Piccolo's being gnarly.
