SSJ Gohan vs Cell

I love that bit! It shows how SSj can turn the kindest person into a sadistic, blood-thirsty creep

it's a shame that this point wasn't elaborated much in the series. It would've made for some interesting character developments... for instance, Goku commits atrocious acts as an SSj 2 and later struggles with the regret he feels for it, struggles to remove the taint from his soul. That would've made a much more interesting 'adversary' than the nest übersuperstrong villain.

B) Goku and Vegeta displayed a SSj2 aura when they fought one another
C) Vegeta fought Majin Boo as a SSj2 with a pretty consistant aura
D) Part A takes place before Gohan fights Dabra with a very SSj-like aura (not one spark of lightning)
E) Part B takes place at the same time Gohan becomes a SSj in front of Dabra for the second time after he knows he needs to be "like when he fought Cell"

There's just way too much evidence, in my opinion, to assume that Akira Toriyama just happened to be lazy/forgetful while drawing the Gohan vs. Dabra fight.

Agreed, but I kind of think we should dismiss the evidence after Goku explains the differences. Ironically, the statement of the rules seems to be the last time Toriyama is consistent about the rules. Silly Birdmountain.

Or...Gohan was still just warming up when fighting Dabra?

Really, if Gohan was afriad of loosing control I think that'd have been a topic of discussion. That's why the Daizenshû is here, to clarify what is arguable in the series.

Yeah, angry and being able to transform into his SSj2 form are different. He can still do the latter, he just can't fight in the mindset he could against Cell.

But the whole point is that he needs to control his emotions -to be in that mindset- if he is to be capable of transforming into SSJ2.
