Dude, people need to stop the hating on movie 4, it makes me sad after a while. There's a lot of awesome fights interspersed throughout it (Son going quasi-SSJ and shattering all the neon, getting his face shoved through a building, Pic completely owning and ripping the arm off that orange guy, the last part with the power transfers and ass-kicking), I love the atmosphere where it's all in the dark and everything's freezing and crumbling, the animation is lovely and goddamnit the villain's a badass Nameccian who can only be beaten with Nameccian help! And the noise made when Pic's ears pop back out is adorable :D

I like this movie, movies I don't like are 3, 6, 7, 8, 11.......

I don't know, what people don't like about movie 4? I heard opinions like, it's rehashed Piccolo Daimao saga..... I think that idea of evil Namekian space warlord like Freeza and eating GS condro from bowl on his throne is brilliant and funny at the same time, I pretty enjoyed this one, alongside of Goku's ''more way to go'' Super Saiyan, Piccolo's whistling pleasure, Bulma with fat legs :D , fighting Chi-chi and much more

You know guys, there was a thread for this less than a month ago:

http://db.schuby.org/daizex/viewtopic.p ... ht=#291553

Although that one is best of the 17 movies, while this one is best of the 13 movies....

I'll just copy and paste my answer from there with a few additions:

I would say either Movie 2, 5, or 13.

Probably 2. It's been a while since I've seen it, but there were some good battles from what I remember, like Goku vs. Piccolo round 2. Plus, the villain, while a little lame, was actually a pretty big threat to Goku and friends. The overall battle against Dr. Wheelo was pretty cool in my opinion. Overall great story, and great action to boot.

I like all 13 movies in general, but this one stuck out to me the most.

Plus, whistling Gohan is one of the cutest things in the series, ever. That is the only movie in which I haven't seen the original Japanese version yet. When the Movie Dragon Box comes out, I'm having a marathon of all those movies.

It's the plot of Movie 3 repackaged.

The best movie is a toss up between 1, 2, 5, and 7 for me.

I've always enjoyed movie 5 the most. No particular reason why, it's just the most enjoyable out of the bunch.

My favorites are Movies 5, 6, and 7. They had the best soundtracks out of any of the movies, both for the dub and the Japanese version. And the plots, while basic, are executed very well.
Yamcha: Do you remember the spell to release him - do you know all the words?
Bulma: Of course! I'm not gonna pull a Frieza and screw it up!
Master Roshi: Bulma, I think Frieza failed because he wore too many clothes!

I'm generally not a huge fan of the movies because I feel they have the same feeling as GT. Extremely rushed and just don't make much sense... But then again, they don't follow the canon story, so it's okay.

I really enjoy the first Cooler movie and the Android 13 movie. Not sure why, those are just my faves. When I was a kid, I loved the Tree of Might and World's Strongest movies. But that was because I was such a huge DBZ fan that when they started showing those two movies, I was going nuts. But honestly, those aren't too great.

All of the movies have some cool concepts, just the stories are weak and the villains are not too fleshed out generally.

My least favourite was movie 2 and my favourite movie was 8, and 10 was decent but 11 sucked (ya, so what I like Broly). Actually scratch that first remark. 11 was the worst and movie 2 is my second choice for worst.

I think movie 4 is good, it's just that Slug didn't grab me like some of the other baddies did and I can see why some people would say that they felt it was rehashed King Piccolo business, but that never bothered me.
Oh, and I just had to mention how terrible Funi's choice of music was for movie 4 too. I'm not gonna lie, I liked it, but it was really out of place.

My favourite Dragon Ball Z is DBZ Movie 1, Dead Zone. Hands-down. The reason I like it? Well, I kind of like Garlic Junior as a villain. It gives more history to Kami-Sama and Dende's battle to become God of Earth, so it's nice for a villain to have some history. And the hand-to-hand combats are spectacular, nostalgic martial-artsy Dragon Ball style fighting. None of this repetitive ki blast, clash clash, ki blast fighting that we continue to see in the later arcs of the series. DBZ Movie 3, Tree Of Might, probably comes in second. I admire the martial arts-style fighting, like in Dead Zone, and it's nice to see Goku portrayed as an evil character, because that's what Turles basically is - an evil Goku.

I utterly despise the Broly movies. 1, because Broly is an uninspiring, unoriginal villain with an awful history and gives a bad name to the Legendary Super Saiyan. The Legendary Super Saiyan was supposed to be this great, beastly character who destroyed himself with his own power (albeit, anime-only, but I sort of saw it like that anyway). But Broly is just a big baby who was already insane from the time he was born, never grew up and had the mental age of a 5-year-old, held a grudge against a guy who had kept him awake for days when he was a baby (babies cry, man, get over it) and has an unconditional love for clotheslining. Keep in mind those are all negatives. Those things make a bad villain. Why he's the only movie villain to reapper in 2 sequels is beyond me. Maybe it's because they like villains who are only good for crushing bones and don't have deep motives like Freeza.

But anyway, Dead Zone is my favourite movie, Tree Of Might is my second.

Tree of Might, it was the last movie that was somewhat believable and carried a tad of realism.

penguintruth wrote:Ugh, movie 8? You must be kidding. Brolly is the lamest villain ever. Wasn't a big fan of 3, either, though it wasn't awful.

My favorite movie was Movie 9, "Ginga Giri-Giri!! Butchigiri no Sugoi Yatsu", for several reasons:

1) It comfortably fits into canon
2) Tournament fun
3) Battle stages were fun
4) Future Trunks gets to do things
5) Mr. Satan
6) Goku defies death... literally!
7) Kikuchi at his best
8) Master Roshi's scouter-vision
9) Everything that Gohan is or does in this movie

9 reasons. 9th movie.
This exactly.

Movie 9 was fucking awesome. For me, 12 and 13 were up there too.
