Woah, that's weird, I remember people making fun of the remastered booklets for saying that Tien was a descendant of the Three Eyed People. I didn't know that it actually wasn't a mistake...
Yamcha: Do you remember the spell to release him - do you know all the words?
Bulma: Of course! I'm not gonna pull a Frieza and screw it up!
Master Roshi: Bulma, I think Frieza failed because he wore too many clothes!

It's not cool to point hypocrisy. Funimation is the devil. </sarcasm>

I take the whole alien origin with a grain of salt since we are given no canon evidence to support it. It is valid but there is also the mystical aspect of Tenshinhan as well, something that was thrown out almost entirely from the series when Raditz showed up and Piccolo was also revealed to be an alien. It's not set in stone but I don't see any problem with believing he was decended from another race or not. Chaoutzu does not seem human either. The many animal-people on Earth and the demons suggest all sorts of different beings on Earth alone.

Maybe the Three Eyed Tribe were mystical aliens.

To be honest, I don't care whether he's of alien descent or not. There's no canon evidence of it, but there's nothing other than Toriyama's interviews that suggest that there was anything mystical about his third eye either. You might as well believe whatever you personally prefer to believe.

Why? Krillin doesn`t even have a nose. And there are talking animals everywhere. Pilaf`s appearance doesn`t even make sense. Does that make him an alien? No. So why would Tenshinhan be an alien because of his eye?
Krillin is a descendant of the 'no-nose tribe' and Pilaf's a member of the 'little-blue-men race,' didn't you know?
Chaozu looks like a doll and never grows throughout the series. Kame-Sen'nin is 354 years old by the end of Z. Nothing is speculated about them being aliens.
Chaotzu's a member of the 'midget-clown tribe' which is an offshoot of the 'fat-clown tribe' that 19's from~

Anyway, I've never much cared for the idea of Tien as an alien. It's so out of left field, since nothing in the series ever hints at it.

I don't mind the 'Tenshinhan has alien ancestry' idea. Not only does it explain his appearance, but it also explains why was initially stronger than the other humans. He's one of the few human characters who have ever bested or matched Goku in a fair fight.

Chaozu did grow, actually.
Together with Tenshinhan, Chaozu set out as a traveling warrior. He continued to train as he passed through different places. With a bigger size and physique than he had as a pupil of Tsuru-sennin, you can see traces of growth.

Haha, it looks more like, due to character design changes, he became slightly less "chibi," and his body became a bit more realistically sized in proportion to his head.
