Just going to say in a nutshell the same thing I've said in all the other threads of this kind...
I'm 14, will be 15 in less than a month. I've been a fan for 7 or 8 years. I've kept my love for Dragon Ball through this forum and collecting manga whenever I have money saved up that I can spend. Some of my friends accept it, some don't. Fuck them, they're the kids, not me. I don't ask for it, though. I only talk about DB to my friends that like it too. My family are fine with it. I'm not embarrassed about liking it. One of my friends recently insulted me by saying, "You like anime". I just said, "So what? You like guns and war, but I don't complain." This was the same guy who constantly talks about guns, war and Call of Duty. There are loads of people in my school who like things that would be considered childish or weird by parts of society if you're over the age of 10: Pokemon, Mario (yeah, seriously, people actually ridicule you for liking MARIO), cartoons, manga, etc. But whatever.

Oh, I’ve been into Dragonball for about … 11/12 years?Shiyonasan wrote:So, for those of you that are 21 or older, how do you keep your love for Dragon Ball at your age?
I’ve never really thought of that before … I guess lurking this forum (and now finally joining it) and collecting figures/doujinshi kept my interest. However, I enjoy the characters and story of DB so much, even if I didn’t do the above, I would still enjoy this series.
Only one girl in my work knows I like DB, but that’s because she is a fan of manga/anime anyway (but not really of DB). My other co-workers don’t really need to know – it’s not relevant to bring it up.If you've revealed to a co-worker that you like Dragon Ball, how did they react?
Family – I started watch DB at a young age. They were a little amused that a girl enjoyed such a boyish show so much, but other than that, they didn’t really care. At my current age, they still don’t really care – but they think some of my DB figures are interesting. What does your family and, to an extent, your friends (real-life friends included) think of your love of Dragon Ball?
Friends – Most of my friends are into anime anyway, so they don’t care. They do tease me a little about liking such a (in their view) bad series, but it’s all in fun.
It doesn’t bother me. I think DB can appeal to both kids and adults, anyway. Is it hard for you to know that you have a fandom for a Japanese kids show?
So, yeah … I don’t really mind what people think about what I’m interested in. It would be boring if we were all the same.
