Did any of you think Freeza wasn't female at first?
Re: Did any of you think Freeza wasn't female at first?
Nope I never think that but I did think android 17 was a girl way back in 1996 when I saw a picture of him and didn't known that he was a android. It was this picture.
Dragon ball fan since 1995

In the dub version of my country, they specifically said that he was female. Not only that, but they even said that there was a male Freeza in the past and the female one succeeded him. What a load of nonsense.

No. I was very confused as to why they kept calling Freeza "he" and "him." And at lunch and recess whenever my friends talked about what we saw on DBZ yesterday, this would always come up--
"And then Freeza came and she--he, sorry--"
At one point, after that had happened for the thirtieth time, we all laughed and then one of my friends said, "I'm sorry, it's just that it's OBVIOUSLY a woman voice!" That was in the 6th grade. Pauline Newstone and Linda Young both had no business playing Freeza at any point, and I say that as somebody who loves most of the dub cast. Thank God we have Chris Ayers now.

A "rather haggard" translation of a line from Future Gohan in DBZ, provided to FUNimation by Toei:
"To think of fighting that is this fun...so, it was pleasant fight, as many as, therefore is a feeling which is good the fight where."

Female, due to him being in his fourth form in Hyper Dimension.
Re: Did any of you think Freeza wasn't female at first?
Freezas a DUDE!?!?!
Re: Did any of you think Freeza wasn't female at first?
The better question is: Who didn't think Freeza was a woman at first?
Which is a HUGE problem. This galactic badass should NOT have his gender confused. FUNi done fucked up.

He had a masculine voice in my country and was refered as a "he", so I didn't ever thought he was female.
Sorry, I can't speak English very well, but I'm trying my best.

Well I saw Freeza first it was when my brother and my friend played some Dragonball videogame and fought eachother. They refered to him as male so I just thought "okay thats a dude" and I never even considered him to be female

Vegeta was speaking in the second person; he actually said "your" in that instance, although it does sound a bit like "her."ssj5goku wrote:In the English dub vegeta did call Freeza a she, it was the episode where vegeta steal the dragon from freeza.
As for me, since I only watched the show every once in a while back then, the first time I actually saw Freeza was when he was with Captain Ginyu; given the horns and the armor I thought he was Ginyu's daughter.
