Dragon Ball Z Kai Part 3 Discussion

Except he outright stated his appreciation of Rial and Clinkenbeard, so it's not like he doesn't like dubs. He even said he liked the Kai dub.

Not everyone is going to like the D-list anime dub actors that you like. Deal with it, the same way I deal with it when someone praises Nadolny over Clinkenbeard.

Except I couldn't care less about actors. Good one, but I'm talking about just enjoying the darn show. Can you do that? You know, watch it without going "FFFFFFFF- that was so not in the Japanese version" or "Ugh, too grainy. Voice sucks ass." The show is called "Dragon Ball Z / Kai," not "Seiyu Saikyo Showdown Zetto" or "Voice Actor Battle Hour" in the U.S. That's why I get why one person said that comments like that can be "depressing." It's as if there's a meta-method to watch anime. Maybe it's just me, but that's how I see it, anyway. Personally, I like Z Kai dubbed because it's just Dragon Ball fun; something I can enjoy.

Er... welcome to The Internet, where fans have heated discussions about things they are passionate about...?

If you feel that people are crossing the line, by all means feel free to use the "Report" button and moderators will take care of it. Otherwise, yeah... that's how things work on every single forum across the entirety of existence. People are stubborn and mean. We simply do our best to keep them in check and require they actually type properly, and (rarely) remove them when they are not a productive member of society.

It's possible that we'll miss something and folks will get all riled up and ridonkulous without our knowing. All it takes is a little prod and we can put the sheep back in with the rest of the herd .

There goes our chances of seeing "Kokoro no Hane" get dubbed...

I think FUNimation will actually try to resolve the copyrights regarding that song. Having the opening song dubbed and the ending song not dubbed, will just look weird and unprofessional.

Besides, is it actually confirmed that copyright is the problem here? To me, it just seems like FUNimation doesn't bother dubbing a song when it's not important/people are constantly yelling over-top anyway.

Well, then that puts you in the "wrong" a little further, as they were explicitly talking about the extras on this Kai release. The content of the actual show wasn't part of this specific discussion.

Now that has been settled, I too hope Wings of the Heart gets dubbed, if only for some consistency.

Whenever I meet voice actors at anime cons, I always enjoy hearing stuff from them in commentaries or interviews. I'm just that sort of nerd. And hey, any other special features one can get when you have to import and pay fairly hefty prices for it is good news for me.

Maybe if this was the first time I was watching this material.

DBZ has been out for 20 years. Who hasn't already seen it? We've all seen this. Kai isn't bringing anything new to the table. Except the new music and the improved English dub. Which is what I talk about.

You want to just talk about just the content of the show? Hop into a time machine. Write "Hope!!" on it first.

If I didn't enjoy the show, I wouldn't very well give a damn enough about the dub to comment on it.

If I'm remembering correctly, I think I use BeLight to isolate the audio from a VOB file. You need BeSweet to use BeLight, but they're both simple to find.

Could you at least tell us if it's the same style of singing that Vic does for the TV OP...?

From what I heard from Vic's panel at Otakon 2010, Vic recorded the English version twice-- One in the same style as Takayoshi Tanimoto's original track, and the other for the Nicktoons airing, due to the fact that Funimation wasn't too fond of his first recording of the song in the style of Tanimoto. If I can guess, we're going to hopefully get the first recording on the DVD, and the second recording is going to stay on Nicktoons/4Kids as it is.
