Now that I know that let me say that in my post on the last page I said, that I changed my opinion on SSJ Gotenks, going from having him above SSJ 3 Goku to below pre and post, but not by much. That's when I backed it up with the idea, that Goku probably also figured he could have reached SSJ 2 sooner or later, which would then put him above Goku.

Either way SSJ Goku is nothing compared to SSJ Gotenks regardless and as D7 implies, SSJ 3 gets varying boosts, so Gotenks' boost is smaller than Goku's in my opinion.

As long as SSJ3 Gotenks is stronger then SSJ3 Goku, then Gotenks does have higher potential then Goku.

I haven't said, that Gotenks' potential < Goku's potential, since that would be a severe contradiction of what the story tells us...
And I haven't said that Goku's SSJ 3 is higher than Gotenks' SSJ 3 either, since that would make Goku stronger than him, which he isn't. Goku's boost is just bigger, than Gotenks' IMO, since I agree with this:

If Gotenks is getting a smaller boost but is still a good degree stronger, it simply means his Base/SSJ1/SSJ2 power is already extremely close to its current limits and has little hidden power because most of his "hidden power" is already shown. And since Fusion is so unexplainably incredibly strong, I have no issues with thinking it has the attribute of drawing a large chuck of their hidden power out already without even being in SSJ3
