Should I...
Re: Should I...
Wasn't it said that Kai would likely be "around" 99 episodes in the first place? Or was that just rampant fan speculation?

Never said by anyone in charge of the show. Japanese fan speculation around its announcement.CaBrPi wrote:Wasn't it said that Kai would likely be "around" 99 episodes in the first place? Or was that just rampant fan speculation?

Yeah, you're right. Yamamoto's "scandal" might have something to do with it...

Doubt it. Was already announced to be wrapping up with episode 98 before they broke that little incident.Drayenko wrote:Yeah, you're right. Yamamoto's "scandal" might have something to do with it...

It was rumoured that Kai would have 100-150 episodes but in the end it got 97 episodes plus one bonus.CaBrPi wrote:Wasn't it said that Kai would likely be "around" 99 episodes in the first place? Or was that just rampant fan speculation?
I'd really like to see Toei's own 1080p HD DBZ Remastering on Blu-ray, kind of Dragon Box Z on Blu-ray, I'd guess their colours would be the same as Kai which I very much adored. ^_^

Are we sure they were actually planing to make Boo arc? I always had a feeling that they intended to end Kai in Cell arc.

Superman is, and always has been, a symbol for truth, justice, and upstanding moral fortitude–a role model and leader as much as a fighter. Goku is an idealist, and believes that there is some good in everyone, but he is unconcerned with the big picture of the world…unless it has to do with some kind of fight. Politics, society, law and order don’t have much bearing on his life, but he’s a man who knows right from wrong.

Kai was cancelled and so they ended with Cell's arc, can be said it is indeed the intended arc to close up with Kai.DBZGTKOSDH wrote:Are we sure they were actually planing to make Boo arc? I always had a feeling that they intended to end Kai in Cell arc.
Toei has not released any trailer/promo of "Majin Boo Kai" so Kai's Saiya-Cell arcs officially.

Re: Should I...
Toei cancelled Kai because it wasn't a profitable franchise and what they're doing doesn't come being free, so they couldn't continue supporting something which had no benefits for them.
DBK's dead to Toei, they're probably not doing anything "Kai" again due to this matter.

Does anyone know whether the re-release on Amazon still has Yamamoto or Kikuchi instead? I'm thinking of picking it up from amazon as its only $29.99.dbboxkaifan wrote:You could've waited for the re-release of DBZ Kai Season One than buying the Parts since they only contain 13 eps each (and then 12 eps since Part 6).

Re: Should I...
Nobody knows yet. It originally was just a repackaging of the original discs which had Yamamoto's score, then It was pulled off the shelves by FUNimation for a few weeks, and just now it's returned, so we don't know if they corrected the music on the discs with that recall or not. We have to wait until someone buys it and reports on it.dballfan wrote:Does anyone know whether the re-release on Amazon still has Yamamoto or Kikuchi instead? Re: Should I...
^ Maybe that's the corrected set, but would FUNimation simply put it out without re-announcing? Who knows.
If anyone's curious to know what the placement of Z BGM's on the early Kai eps sound like, watch a sample of the Catalán or Brazilian dub (YouTube).

Most shows aren't announced that they are cancelled. They just stop airing, Kai was no exception.DBZGTKOSDH wrote:But, IIRC, Toei never said Kai was "canceled", but they said that it "ended".
If you're not here soon... GET ON!
Re: Should I...
Didn't you yourself say at one point you figure they knew about the music issues for a while before the music changes and on happened? (I could be remembering wrong... though the article on Yamamoto calls it an 'expected shock.') I mean, the legal process just isn't that quick; they likely knew for at least a little while before they made they made their legal announcement and figured out the exact verbiage of the press release just because it takes a while to investigate things like that. I might be wrong on the timeline (and by all means, break break break-break it dowwwwnnn because I have no idea when they announced that 98 would be the last in relation to things), but it's a pretty educated guess they could've known about this in time to have this influence their choice to end things unless there's some HUGE disparity in time there.VegettoEX wrote:Doubt it. Not because of the scandal or anything, but more due to the fact that I figure they could've seen the potential revenue they were going to lose on soundtrack sales. I guess it depends on how much the soundtracks were selling to make this even possibly true... is there data on that? I guess the one fact out of this is they probably paid Yamamoto a lot of money and now they can't even recoup their investment on that with residual sales of CDs and usage in video games and the like.

Someone please correct me if I'm wrong, but, isn`t Nagasaki still listed at one of people responsible for music placement?GotenDaisuki wrote:Also, Nagasaki did a good job with Yamamoto's music placement, but now he's gone and other people did the music placement with the replacement score which adds a reason reason why Kikuchi isn't as good on Kai as it was on Z.
