What I meant is why do guys make such a big deal over next ep previews when they are ones of eps that are on the same dvd? I understand having one for the ep that's on the next dvd, but why do people make such a big deal over whether or not there is a preview for the second ep on a dvd right after the first? Or is it just a nitpick for guys who must have every little thing?
Well, for one thing, it has the characters talking about the next episode, which is pretty cool. And hell, for the human fact that we want what we can't have! ;)
Damn right, if GT can get 'em, why can't Z? ARGGGGG! Bad enough we'd only get dub-only previews, but now we don't even get that for the ultimate uncut dvds' final episodes.

This is supposed to be 'uncut?' Where's CLHCL and Zenkai Power, or is that Cartoon Network's doing?

My mom scolded me for watching the "cartoon" again.

There only showing the Uncut English version, as in that Uncut version which is separate entirly from the Japanese version, and CHA-LA and Zenkai Power! weren't in the redub episodes on the dvd, so both cartoon network and FUNi are getting off on a technicality for that.

Like I said, it's not even really "getting off on a technicality," because when they talk about uncut, they usually mean without anything cut from the EPISODE.
Nothing is ever said about the opening/ending and the eyecatchers.

Question: Did you actually expect for them to show an opening and ending sequence in Japanese with credits in Japanese on an American tv network?

Well, on Saturdays, they show "Paranoia Agent" and "S-Cry-ED" with their respective openings and closings in Japanese. But I think that's only for the first four episodes. Plus, it's Adult Swim. But dammit, that doesn't mean we shouldn't see our DBZ themes on American TV!

When is everyone gonna get it, the only way CHA-LA and Zenkai Power! would be aired is if the Japanese version would, the new redub opening and ending is the Uncut version OP/EN for the English version/redub.

That's exactly what I was saying. Also people need to realize that if Cha-La and Zenkai Power were dubbed, it would not be the same and probably tie into the show a la Sailor Moon theme.

Why, just why can't you be satisfied with the total uncut footage? If you want the opening, ending, and eyecatchers that badly then watch it in Japanese. Damn man, I saw Goku and Raditz's stomachs squirting blood and good ol' Uncle R. spit it up while talking. That type of shit doesn't even get shown on Adult Swim (unless it was for comical purposes). What more can you ask for?

Very true, I was just being very nit-pickish about the eye-catchers since they were shown on the dvd's redub, but I can definitly live without them. If the "HELL" shirts and Goku's adult rear end are shown, I will be truly convinced that no in-episode footage has/will been altered.

For the recently shown DBZ movies in England they used the Japanese openings and endings, but the movies wern't worth watching because Piccolo was called Big Green and Goku sounds like some heavy smoker with the super deep voice he's given.

But if I lived in the US and they are showing the Ultimate Uncut version on TV, fuck the eye cathers and uncut openings, it's the in-episode footage you want really and truthfully. That would be like me moaning about them not showing the episode in it's no grain DragonBox DVD quality, but people need to settle down and get what they're given, maybe for some viewers the Japanese openings will drive them away, who knows, and believe me, you'd eventually get sick of seeing Gohan's little head pop up and running to Goku for the eye catchers.

But if these UU episodes get shown in the UK I reckon Sky 1 should get the deal, I mean, then EVERYONE would watch it. Even me.

Eh, I could get into the whole "It's just the old Ocean dialogue with less talent and more blood", but why bother ;p

*pets Dragon Boxes* I couldn't ask for much more, personally.

What about subtitles, Steve Simmons gives us all-out accuracy on the UU dvds, while the Dragon Box gets jack-squat. Grain or not, in my opinon the UU dvds are more prefereable to buy for the Japanese version, even if there's no next-EP previews.

That's the only downside to Dragonboxes, if you don't speak Japanese, when there's a moment that's light on action and heavy on dialogue, you might be left scratching your head wondering what the heck is going on.

My mistake, I thought this thread was about the television broadcast of the episodes :P

I'm not gonna debate the R1 DVD's versus the R2, it's been done to death. I'm happy with my purchases, that's all that matters to me.

Well if they really want to edit it they can digitally add a little flag that says "Bang!" coming out of the barrel.

Blastero wrote:I really don't care too much about the subtitle-lessness of the D-Boxes. I am planning on getting one around the holiday season, and I am not fluent in Japanese. I already know most of the plot in DBZ, and I probably know enough Japanese to get by during most of the talking scenes. To me it's a very small price to pay. Anyway, I am curious to see how they handle the gun to the head scene. I know they could technically censor the unCUT version, but then again, I don't think they could really cover up the fact that she puts a friggin gun the her head and pulls the trigger without cutting at least SOMETHING. I doubt it will be altered, aside from maybe adding some dumb "I'm okay. That bullet trough the head did absolutely nothing" dialogue. I don't even think it killed her since bullets that go through people's heads just for comic purposes in Dragonball usually don't really kill the person.
They might not touch it because a few months ago when they were showing Looney Tunes during Adult Swim, they kept in guys putting guns to their heads and pulling the trigger. I know that often times now they cut that sort of thing out, but they showed it then.

Maybe most children would think they are dead already since Goku is in the other world, or maybe they don't even care and they'll just leave it in anyway.

Just saw Goku's adventure in Hell. Good news there was no "HFIL" crap. Bad news, they beat around the bush and didn't refer to it as Hell. The two ogres called it "Land of no return" and other such names.
