Simple, Rach... Pick an anime. Like, Scrapped Princess. Anything. Gah.
Now, watch it. Pick a character! What, how major a character?! Who cares, shut up! Like Supii-kun. He's cool.
Go by Supii-kun (or whatever) on the boards. Put you name into it, an you win.
I'm not quite sure what you could do with Supii-kun, though... Like, Rachii-kun... or Supach-kun. Damn, I suck with examples.

It's better than what I did, which is take my name and stick it next to a shortened version of the university course I was doing at the time. Which I then promptly changed, so I claimed it was from Pokemon. It was either that, or start calling myself CompSciLiam.
And Triple-H will be running the business when Vince retires. Woo. Or rather, no woo.
And I should clarify, I was being silly about your use of the word "say". As in "say out loud". It does make it look like you're shouting the first word.
Oddball fan: "I like Goku Son."
TripleRach: "For the last time, it's SON Gokuu! Moron."

Way off topic. The only discussion I want in this thread is progress / updates on the future ripping of the full-length Japanese intro to Budokai 2. Thanks.

Fair enough. I would try at other Blockbusters to see if they have the game, but I'm without a car. If I do manage to get my hands on it, I'll let you know.

I regret to inform you all that the full vocal jap version doesn't appear to be in the PAL DVD either... I just finished going through the ADX files in the DVD I downloaded, only the instrumental version is in there...
Oh well, atleast I can burn the game, so it wasn't all to waste.. oh wait, I CAN'T.
Only hope now is to find someone who imported the jap version.. either that or a downloadable jap version that's not a rip (since the music quality on those is usually crap from the US dvdrip I checked before for the song...).

Oh well. At least you have an Ippo avatar. (That IS Ippo, right?)

Blargh. Yeah, the "GeNiuS" rip of the Japanese version has downsampled music, from what I've read. Interestingly, though, both the full-length instrumental AND vocal versions are on the Japanese disc... with the instrumental being full bitrate, and the vocal being downsampled >.<TotoGuy wrote:I regret to inform you all that the full vocal jap version doesn't appear to be in the PAL DVD either... Can we at least get a rip of the "TV-length" version of the vocal theme? I'll take the raw file of that, for now...

Yes, atleast I have my Ippo :I
I'll get a raw of the tv-sized version, if I knew how.
I tried every program I could find for ripping out movies from ps2 games, all I could rip out was the video, the programs never got the audio out. I had to record the intro using analog means, and then multiplex it to the video. Quality could've been better, but it was better than no audio at all.
So let me know how you ripped out the tv sized instrumental and I'll be happy to send a raw

Castor wrote a really nice guide on ripping PS2 video/audio. They're really just multiplexed MPEG-2 streams, like any normal DVD. I haven't tried it all out, myself, but I'm fairly sure it works well.

Ok, god damnit.
I tried using MF Audio like he suggested, all I got was garbled sound (I'm really starting to hate that program).
Then I thought that there has to be some program out there that can rip this stupid thing out, even though I tried about.. 5 already.
...3 hours and an assload of weird jap programs later, I finally stumbled upon this wonderful thing called "PSS Demux" (how the hell didn't I find something named as obviously as that sooner?!), a simple, tiny program, that managed to do what all of those fancy "rippers" and "players" couldn't do. Produce a nice, working raw wav file.
Mike, head over to the chat room, so I'll dcc this to you before my head explodes

For one thing, I'm sure people are going to want to burn it to CD. CD quality is 44 kHz, as opposed to 48 kHz. Figured I'd step in and take out the guess-work. Not all CD burning programs will convert it (plus, BeSweet will do a hella better job than Nero will).Deus ex Machina wrote:I don't mean to complain, but why couldn't the song be ripped at DVD quality? It's not like the game had its own soundtrack disc or something like that...
Also, since I provide CD-rips at a lower-than-perfect bitrate, I don't want to be a hypocrite and provide DVD-ripped-songs at a perfect bitrate... I still need to provide SOME incentive for actually purchasing the items these songs come from.
You could argue than since I have the raw rip, and don't own the game, I'm an asshole, but whatever

Although I do agree with not being a hypoctite, I don't think that the situations are directly comparable. Anyone can buy CDs from anywhere, and play them on the equipment they have at home. They buy the CDs to listen to (ie, they buy them for the purpose that they were made for).
With the DVDs, lots of people can't play them on their home equipment without paying to get their hardware modified, which costs a lot. In addition, they are buying a Japanese game for the purposes of listening to a song on it (ie, not what the thing was made for). Although they can play it, I bet anyone who does already had Budokai 2 in English, so again, they're not buying the game to play it, but just to listen to one song.
So I do think, if you wanted, you could put them out at full quality without being a hypocrite. Of course, 192kbps is pretty high, and only very, very few people (mainly nerds) would be able to tell the difference in quality anyway.

The full-length, Japanese vocal version of the theme song has been ripped and obtained.
Special thanks to ANT Link15 for sticking with me through the ripping process, step-by-step, despite it being 2 am in Japan. I will be posting the MP3 on the site later today.
