And while I don't dig Faulconer's fat beats, I can certainly see how, to someone who does, it would be a deal-breaker.
But Marathon Mode? Not to sound flippant, but you have a remote control. It has skip chapter buttons. There's your marathon mode. To sound less flippant, even though I don't care for a Marathon Mode feature because I prefer to watch an episode as a complete episode, I still can't see how that would possibly be a big deal. It's a convenient feature, sure, but, again, it's not something you can't accomplish on your own with the tiniest amount of effort. It's like nice, deluxe packaging: it's fun to have, but it's hardly necessary.
All that said, the first two single discs ever released are an enforced Marathon Mode, so there you go. They completely lack recaps, previews, openings and ending for all but the beginning and end of the disc, and even eyecatches. Other early discs present the recaps as an option you can turn on and off, so, again, pretty close to that.
Let's face it. People are to lazy to press the skip button to skip the intro and closing. I do it all the time for Dragonbox and even on my orange bricks that have marathon mode. Skipping is much better then marathon.
