The X-men weren't hated at first, either. The entire "we should stay hidden because we're different and humans may not entirely trust us" thing was there from the start, but the X-men were still treated as a superhero team who could work with the military, interact openly with the public, have FBI contacts, etc. The anti-mutant hysteria wasn't really introduced until about two years into the comic's run, with the first Sentinel story.

Er... No. Prejudice and racism have been major themes of the x-men franchise ever since they were introduced in the 60s. Even the first live action movie banked on those issues, that had been prevalent in the comics, and that movie came out in 2000.

...uh.
So since "even" a movie from 2000 banked on this issue, it means it must have been a prevalent theme in the comic for 37 years, as opposed to merely 35?
