GT still appears on Nicktoons every now and then, where as I don't think the original series has been on US TV for about a decade now. Also, GT is just less episodes and thus easier to remaster, as previously pointed out.
So yeah, I would assume GT is more popular and would probably get a Blu-Ray first.

No movie or TV show will get a nice remaster unless the powers that be feel they can recoup the investment. One can only hope the price to do a great transfer comes down because DBZ's heyday as far as sales is pretty much over. However, by the time the cost of doing a great remaster is cost effective, the next format will probably be released.
