^ Cheers. Yeah it sucks that Media Player Classic doesn't retain the aspect ratio when the Save Image function is used

Re: Glorious Anime Screenshot Thread

I just love how this shot focuses solely on Goku it works really well.

I really like the detail they (the animators) put into Son in this shot. I too really like the gritty look of the earlier episodes.

Another awesome shot of Goku. I like this one because of how huge Nappa looks even though he is out of focus.

What can I say about this one? It's one of the most iconic shots in the series. This shot is very nostalgic for me because I remember it being plastered all over the old merchandise back in the Cartoon Network days.

This is just awesome.

I love the lighting on this and Vegetto's cocky expression.

Again I really like the lighting on this shot.
I apologise for these next three shots being in 16:9 but I only own the Blu-Ray of the Trunks special.

Awesome shot of Lapis & Lazuli (Also I really like their real names, so I'm gonna call them that from now on

I just love how haunting this shot looks.

This is really eerie, especially how Gohan's eyes lose their pupils after his death.

Always liked this shot of Son turning SSJ.

I can't really explain why I like this shot, I just do!

Same as before, I just really like this shot.
Re: Glorious Anime Screenshot Thread
These all look like they're from bootleg sources. Especially those first ones given the resolution and lack of grain.
Also, would your Blu-ray shots not be 1920x1080 were they legitimate?
The special gets a pass since its quality is shit no matter where you source it from.

Re: Glorious Anime Screenshot Thread

The ruthless expression, perspective, shading, and color of Ki here represent the character perfectly. As I'd imagine this image is what most characters would commonly see if they were to encounter Broly.

It's rare for a Super Saiyan to be seen with such colors. The silver-streaked hair, blue aura and Gohan's non-chalant look as a glowing sphere of death comes towards him makes this shot very special.

I love how even though it shares everything in common with the ordinary Kamehameha, they can still make it appear in such sinister fashion through some well-placed colors.

The way the aura is done makes it appear like Cell is on fire. It's a nice contrast of light and dark.

This shot captures the whole good vs. evil, angel vs. devil, light vs. dark, heaven vs. hell concept that the film tends to portray.
Re: Glorious Anime Screenshot Thread
Got some really nice shots there! A lot of their aspect ratio's are wrong though. If the source is 16:9, make sure your image is 853x480, 720x405 or even 640x360. Huijo wrote a pretty good explanation on it.
Here's the Gohan shot fixed:

Absolutely beautiful shot. Nice pick!

I'm almost positive those shots are from a DBNL Dragon Box bootleg, I'd recognize that grain removal + compression anywhere....SSJ3_Zack wrote:

Not sure which episode these are from, but I think they're from episode 68 of Z.
When I saw this shot, I just couldn't resist taking screenshots! It's such an amazing angle, and it perfectly shows Vegeta flying away; he doesn't just go off-screen, we're able to see him fly off from the same point as Goku. Also, Vegeta's aura is gorgeous!

Well if I'm honest, the Dragon Box pictures were provided by a friend for me so I wouldn't know if they're authentic or not. If they are bootlegged then I apologise.

I really like when early scenes from the show get re-drawn later in the series. I wish I could find a cel of either one of these scenes.

Re: Glorious Anime Screenshot Thread
So I was watching Garlic Jr., and I always remember this shot.

On the whole, the introduction of the Aquamist was not subtle as it could have been, had Dragon Ball been a show that would appreciate something like that. It billowed over the land, and most of the shots of crazed everymen and animals were a bit too quick. But they played this differently- every good film about a mind-altering disease or anything of the sort has a build up shot- the random old man in Night of the Living Dead, the church in 28 Days Later- before it drops why you're supposed to feel from it. Picking Chi-Chi as the first demonized (?) member of the main cast we see- you really understand Garlic Jr.'s enjoyment of pain in an understandable way for the minute or so Gohan is completely terrified before Piccolo shows to stabilize things.

Versus this Prima Donna.

This one might be outside the point of the topic, because those legs are terrifying, but it stopped me for a second because its when I realized on a technical level what happens when you throw a movie villain through the filter of cheaper animators. Reading over the site, Maeda said that Garlic Jr. came out of an idea of seeing a midget become the Hulk, and for the most part Garlic's sheer, hunched-over size is very real even as it varies between episodes. Not this one bit.

Just a .gif, but a really cool animation sequence:

Yamcha: Do you remember the spell to release him - do you know all the words?
Bulma: Of course! I'm not gonna pull a Frieza and screw it up!
Master Roshi: Bulma, I think Frieza failed because he wore too many clothes!

Who directed/animated this scene, by the way? Is this the same person/team who animated Goku transforming against #19 and #20? This art style is by far my favorite throughout the series.jjgp1112 wrote:Just a .gif, but a really cool animation sequence:

That sequence was from an episode supervised by Maeda Minoru, while the Goku transformation was Yamamuro Tadayoshi. Pretty similar styles:CashmanX wrote:Who directed/animated this scene, by the way? Re: Glorious Anime Screenshot Thread
A while ago I took these screenshots from the Japanese Dragon Boxes, which are amongst my absolute favourite moments in the franchise.
(I also included some alternate versions because I can't seem to decide which of them I like the most
)
Gogeta stares at Janemba before eliminating him:

Son Goku's triumphant pose after defeating Hildegarn with the Ryu-Ken:

Son Goku bids Majin Boo farewell before launching the Genkidama:

Son Goku shows the Super Saiyan 3 transformation:

Dragon Ball GT's fourth ending's final scene:

Re: Glorious Anime Screenshot Thread
I'm surprised this one isn't up:

I just made this myself (put together the panning shot). The only problem is the arm (on the right side, his left arm). Other than that, it matched up pretty nicely.
Anyway, probably my favorite shot in the entire series

My favorite shot of Vegito. It really displays his cocky yet somewhat calm demeanor in the heat of battle

Re: Glorious Anime Screenshot Thread
Right, I guess more clarification is in order since we're getting continuous bootleg/heavily compressed shots posted that totally ignore the point of the thread.
Unless you are physically putting the disc into your machine and taking the screenshots yourself, please do not post.
No DBNL rips, no YouTube screenshots, no Google images or anything attained from the internet.

I concur with that. Take up the Kanzenshuu attitude: do it the best that it can be done! There's no shame in asking someone else for help, too, if there's a specific frame or scene you have in mind but just don't have the required materials in order to do it yourself.

Re: Glorious Anime Screenshot Thread
Here's a shot of Cell looking smug as fuck.

This is when he's trying to piss off Gohan to make him rage and go stronger ect.
It really shows off his over-confidence in himself and his arrogance.
This shot where Shenlong is above all the animals is just.....so beautiful ;_;
Also this shot is from the Blu-Ray not Dragon Box but I hope it's okay. (if it's not good enough I'll remove it)
