Damn parents, always complaining to companies and ruining it for us. :x

Is there any evidence of parents complaining?

Just how many parents are actually that aware of what their children are watching? Of that percentage, how many of them think that maybe they should take action and complain about it? Of that percentage, how many of them actually manage to find a way to get in contact with Cartoon Network in order to tell them about said frustration?

I don't buy this bull. I'm sure there's a reason for it, but yeah.

That's exactly what I was asking. I never saw any indication, like a post here or otherwise, that parents were the cause of this.

They make it kid friendly so that its easier to sell to syndication distributors. If it was rated anything like "Teen" or higher it cuts there potential sellers in half, this way if its ok for all ages it can be sold to any distributor. When you have a show like Dragonball Z it's a new property and so you can't really dub it and keep it (for the most part) uncut, because it IS new and companies dont know how well it will be and so no one really wants to take a chance, but if it's rated for all ages you can try and sell it anywhere....I don't know if I'm making sense, I dont know how to explain it. :?

That's action to me, training is action.

Because we all know Gohan stumbling about in a forest while running away from a tiger is action to the max!

Or how wondering where apples came from on top of a mountain with no apple trees is quite the suspenseful scene.

Can't forget that Roshi sitting on the pot while talking to Goku is a breathtaking action scene that'll blow you away.

Right.

Whatever. Cartoon Network can and will do whatever they want, and we can't stop them. Some like the Ocean Dub, some don't. They can't cater to everyone, otherwise they'd have to marathon the Ocean Dub, Funi Dub, and JP version, twice each (cut and uncut).

Heck, even I've been toying with buying one of the last stocked Season 1 Pioneer Box Sets from Suncoast.com just for nostalgia (Plus Ian Corlett, Scott NcNeil, and the various Ocean Actors just...totally own over 80% of Funi's cast.)

DVD's exist for a reason. A little bit of money and you can get whatever the heck you want. Pretty nice deal.

I know, those kept me on the edge of my seat. Where was it that Gohan got those apples from again? Was it an act of god or something?

I think it's pretty neat. I don't remember seeing any of the original dub, so yay. Gohan's voice is so much better. The title cards are pretty retarded looking though. I'm thinking of finding some DVDs though, cause I really don't want to wait a week to see another episode.

Maybe CN is throwing these out this so the older viewers can get some nolstogia.

Better those title cards than the ones FUNi used for the redub. :P Taking the original Japanese title card without the text, turning it into a red/black mix and then using their own Uncut Edition font..that was pretty bad.

The Ult. Uncut's title cards were horrendous and destroyed any type of continuity with the rest of the dub. Actually, other than the voices, there is no continuity between the Ultimate Uncuts and the dub starting from the dreaded season 3.

I agree, the Ocean episodes of the Saiyan/Namek sagas work better in continuity with the rest of the dub canon, IMO.

Uh..not really. o_O In the Ocean dub, you've got Next Dimension, no blood, several censors and cuts. Then you have Season 3 which slowly leans away from ND, shows people with bloody faces and bodies, death is acknowledged as well as severe pain. Don't forget the big change in voices and attitudes put into voices and characters.

Neither one is exactly perfectly alligned with continuation.

Well, in season 3, the dub VAs do make it a point to sound as similar to the Ocean VAs than they ever do in any other part of the series. In Ocean's 2 seasons, death was, however rarley, still referenced from time to time. Also, when at flukish times, there were instances of blood (on Goku and Tien's mouths on two occasions, as well as Piccolo's "green" and Tien's inverted blood, and the instance of Gohan's dinosaur friend). Also, "another/next dimension" is still referenced from time to time in the Ginyu/Frieza sagas, as well as the Super 17 saga in GT's dub. I guess it's basically personal opinion, I'm not gonna argue about this.

I'm pretty sure they said H.F.I.L. in the Super 17 arc, not Next Dimension. >_> They pretty much abandoned that a little into the Freeza portion.

Another thing to note is how a certain instance from one episode involving Ginyu got thrown into an earlier episode. :P

In the edit version of the Super 17 arc, H.F.I.L was put in place for the uncut version's "Hell" in all dialogue instances, however in both the edit and Uncut versions, "Next Dimension" was said in reference to the Other World by Piccolo, Yemma, and Goku. I have the Uncut DVDs, so I know this's true.

I hate this crap.....it doesn't matter if you call it Heaven or the next dimension, it's the same damn thing.

No it isn't. The Next Dimension is a way to cover up heaven. Because heaven is so offending.

What? The Next Dimension was used as a way to cover up death, because of its sensitive nature towards children.
