Well from a story perspective the Dragon Ball series is made up of 12 Universes. For the next game they could have one of these verses be in jeopardy so your created character (which you could import from a Xenoverse save file) could be called upon to fix the problems of that verse.

Whereas Xenoverse's story mainly involves tweaks of what happened in the series, this games story could just be completely different. If Xenoverse can introduce four or five original characters and a couple locations then why can't the next game introduce ten new characters and a half dozen new locations? The main villain could just be the God of Destruction of that universe who'd be using all the different villains from across the series, the movies and original villains to take over or destroy planets and it's up to you to put a stop to them along with help from the familiar heroes.

There's no reason something like that couldn't be done as long as Dimps was willing to take their creativity up a notch.

I second this. Maybe they can also get some input from Toriyama make Xenoverse a legit series. If each series uses the same characters, an alternate take on GT and the movies or new scenarios such as an evil Goku or preventing Lapis and Lazuli from becoming Androids 17 and 18 could be explored.

The Dragonball game franchise has been lackluster, in my opinion, for an entire system generation. Were there a bunch of games? Sure, there were a pile of Dragonball games the generation before that too (On the PS2 anyway), but nothing entirely memorable or spectatcular. I recently got an Xbox One, and while I'm interested to see what this Xenoverse game is like, I don't have high hopes or expectations. The last gen (Xbox 360/PS3) had lackluster titles at best. I picked up Burst Limit, Budokai HD Collection, and Battle of Z, and passed on the Raging Blast games and Ultimate Tenkaichi. Burst Limit was decent, but nothing more than an updated Budokai 1 in many respects. Budokai HD collection saw Budokai 3 in HD, and was unfortunately the highlight of the entire console generation for me. Battle of Z was an impulse buy that a friend recommended, and it was just more of the same of the games I'd avoided buying, because they were all Sparking/Budokai Tenkaichi clones, and not very fun to me.

What would I like to see? Anything similar to what I consider the best of the best Dragonball themed games (In no particular order):

Dragonball Z: Budokai 3 (PS2)(PS3/X360 HD Collection)
Super Dragonball Z (PS2) -An HD remake or true sequel to this would actually be what I would want the most!
Dragonball Z: Attack of the Saiyans (NDS) - Probably the best DB themed RPG ever made
Dragonball Advance Adventure (GBA) - A well made game with tournament modes and a fun beat em up story mode in general
Dragonball Z: Legacy of Goku II (GBA) - Decent action RPG that was surprisingly fun for its time. Something like this on a larger scale could be really great.

Those five games captured the magic of what a great Dragonball game should be in my eyes. Everything else, besides a couple of honorable mentions, doesn't even hold a candle to these games, and feels like annual shovelware cash-ins by comparison.

Maybe we won't hear from a new game until later into the year instead during the late spring or summer time like we normally do. Xenoverse just came out, Namco Bandai wants to see how well that game does first.
