And that's another debate. (I mean, concerning these new two movies. It's no question that the previous 13 movies contradict the manga, that's how most anime movies work.)

Re: And It's Gangsta Time!
Another 4 episodes! Goku's having trouble in Sogoroku Space playing a Mario Party game.
-Opening Animation has been alterered to include shots of Baby and the Super Saiyan 4 Transformation at the end.
-Eyecatchers are completely new as well.
-New Ending Theme, with some references to earlier arcs in its animation. These changes all occurred as of Episode 27.
-Despite the above change, the opening credits still list the first ending. I'm going to guess it remains that way through the entire series.
-So, Baby's a Tuffle! Those guys haven't even been mentioned since King Kai talked about them over 300 Episodes ago.
-We finally get to see Buu again! Mr. Satan had the brilliant idea of hiding inside him!
-Speaking of which, he was only called Hercule a few episodes back, but is now called by his last name like in Z for the first time in GT. Good, back to normal, I guess.
-Kibito Kai and Old Kai, yay! I wasn't expecting to see them until I saw them in the ED animation.
-Sugoro's Mario Party game is certainly an interesting twist that I did not see coming, even though it seems like an excuse to distract from the main plot. (Filler in GT?

Re: And It's Gangsta Time!
4 more episodes, bringing me to the end of Season 1. I'll be listening to the GMGoken's suggestion of having an Uub episode count, now that he's back.
-UUB COUNT: 4 (That's Episodes 1, and 31-33, since I'm not counting recaps or flashbacks)
-So, Majuub is now a thing. They are one now. Gonna miss the pink guy.
-Those flashbacks to the beach are so adorable! ^_^
-Krillin and his family seem somewhat in character for people who are supposed to be brainwashed.
-We haven't seen Goku go ape since the 21st World Martial Arts Tournament, nor have we seen the transformation at all since the battle with Vegeta. So, nice that that's still a thing.
-I forgot to mention that I love that they acknowledge Goku's fear of needles!

Re: And It's Gangsta Time!
Ok, so I've gone ahead and finished the Baby Saga now. Will be taking a break for a while.
-The Credits in the Opening have had their font changed as of the Season 2 set, yet the first ending is STILL credited, rather than the second.
-Probably should've noted a while ago, but the Baby Saga uses a standard recap music while the Black Star Dragon Ball Saga simply uses normal BGM.
-Goku gets Schemmel's voice back for his Super Saiyan 4 form, notably. Feels like it's been a while.
-UUB COUNT is at 5, not counting the episodes he doesn't even get any lines in.
-So, this got me really confused. How has it been a WHOLE YEAR since Baby used the Black Star Dragon Balls? You mean to tell me that these 40 episodes took place in over a year? We have no idea how long the actual Dragon Ball hunt went, but I find it really hard to believe the stuff with Baby took even longer.
-Piccolo decides to ride this one out and die. We get a nice scene between him and Gohan.
-A bunch of cameos from characters we haven't seen since Dragon Ball Z, even characters from Dragon Ball who only cameod in that are here. Nice.

I do think it's cool that this has both Nadolny and Schemmel, sometimes in the same episode, yeah.

Well, that's what I was thinking at first, but it is explicitly stated in Episode 40 that it's been two weeks short of a year since Baby made his wish.jcogginsa wrote: The BSDBs have to be on earth when a year passes, or Earth blows up. What's your opinion on Mark Menza's music? I remember when GT first started airing on Toonami, I really disliked his music because it just seemed so dreary, repetitive, and unimaginative.
Actually, what are your thoughts on GT so far in terms of how entertaining it is? Are you finding it more or less enjoyable than what came before? Is it keeping you as engaged? Are the characters as interesting as before?

Re: And It's Gangsta Time!
^ I like the series so far. It may have a few issues, but I like to see the positive side of everything. This works as a perfectly viable continuation of the franchise. That being said, this would've been a pretty lame point to end it. Good thing it went on for another 24 episodes.
The hate that some people address leaves me confused. The characters Pan and Giru seem to be the ones singled out the most. I don't hate Pan at all. Yes, she's immature. Like most 9 or 10 year olds in life or death situations. I don't have anything against Giru at all either. He's a nice sidekick to have around and brings some nice humor and charm in. It's also heartwarming to see Pan warm up to him.
Others bring up the Para Para Boogie as a hate-target, based on the fact that it's cheesy. Why? That's exactly the point. Goku and his crewmates react exactly the same as the audience probably is. It's the same kind of cheesy as the Ginyu Force and Great Saiyaman, yet most fans don't have a problem with either of those.
As for power level inconsistencies, that is something I just don't care about.
Regarding Menza's music. Yes, I went out of my way to select the replacement score to provide a greater contrast when I see the original, just like I did with Z (and didn't do with DB before that since there is no such option). I think it's.....ok enough. It's not really any better or worse than the average dub replacement score. It's just not ABOVE average like the replacement for Z is, which is probably why people don't like this one that much. It doesn't have as much variety, but keeps a consistent mood and dark tone that works for what Funi was going for. There are some tracks I like, and I'd say it really isn't that bad, but it's definitely not on the level of Johnson's and Faulconer's material.

Re: And It's Gangsta Time!
Interesting. My somewhat dislike for it hasn't ever been directed at a specific person or plot point, like Pan or the Para Para thing. For me, it just never captured my attention the way DB and DBZ did, probably due to a combination of story and characters not being interesting enough. But admittedly, I've never actually finished it all the way so I'll probably try to rewatch it at some point, but with the Japanese music.

Fair enough. I only saw a few episodes, and I just kept getting annoyed by little plot holes that would pop up every few minutes (no, not power level stuff). I might just be too pedantic for my own good.

Re: And It's Gangsta Time!
GT has plenty of good stuff in there, but it's marred by lackluster storyboards and direction, and somewhat lazy writing that contradicts or ignores things that happen or are said in the previous anime. The result is that to me, GT feels mediocre at best, and dreadfully boring at worst. The replacement score by Menza certainly didn't help the show.

Re: And It's Gangsta Time!
Like Pilaf's gang finding and getting up to the Lookout, knowing about the Black Star Dragon Balls, the existence of the Black Stars, a failure to use the regular Dragon Balls in any way to aid in the Black Star hunt, the sheer amount of faffing about on Imecka when their problems were all easily solvable and it was clear Don Kee was a problem, the way Ledgic knew they were all saiyans somehow (despite only one of them looking anything like a saiyan, and even he didn't have a tail), the fact that Ledgic left Don Kee due to finding him dishonourable and such despite having happily served him for years for some reason, and...well, sure, I can accept that GT base Goku is Buu-level, whatever, but if he needs to go SSJ to beat Ledgic...if Ledgic was so powerful, where did he come from?! What exactly is he? What was he doing all this time? How did he ever find a worthy opponent before?Zenkai wrote:Like what?Captain Space wrote:I just kept getting annoyed by little plot holes that would pop up every few minutes

Plot holes are not something new for a franchise. And there is no much point in expecting something outstanding from an anime-only continuation.theoriginalbilis wrote:GT has plenty of good stuff in there, but it's marred by lackluster storyboards and direction, and somewhat lazy writing that contradicts or ignores things that happen or are said in the previous anime. Wait, why is it "Gangsta Time" if you're watching DBGT? I don't get the connection.
