Well, the soul of DB is it's music, the amount of cues, how the score perfectly matches the action sequences, it's so VERY kikuchi-esque but at the same time, even if you heard another one of his works, you can quickly point out it's Dragon Ball, even if you hate it, you just know that sound, I have come to realize, that's the legacy that kikuchi left in his music, in that regard, it's the unmatched score of DB. And I think, officially, it has become my favorite. (My former favorite was Takaki).

Back to the topic at hand, I'm pretty happy about this!. Like Ajay said, Shiro Sagisu, Kikuchi as well as Joe Hisaishi confirms the good musical taste of the fans.

Someone else mentioned that it isn't just Japan, but alas this won because of childhood nostalgia. As another person pointed out, it was non-students who voted and they implied it meant older people (e.x. graduated high school/college). They said that if the younger generation had voted, AoT would've done better.
So, this is your opnion; The Kikuchi score couldn't have highly ranked without old people's childhood nostalgia because the score itself definitely sucks from my personal point of view.

Your personal tastes in music have nothing to do with this ranking. It's hilarious that you express your love for Faulconer that comes from your childhood nostalgia while you consider the Japanese crazy for loving something from their childhood. You approve your own subjective view and nolstagia, but you deny others' and call people with different tastes CRAZY. And it's coming from the guy who preached about the necessity of cooperation between people with different tastes a while ago.

Who's really crazy here?

To add on to that, American is one of, if not the only country to change the original score like that. The only place where a majority of people prefer Falcouner. Perhaps it is we (Americans) who are the crazy ones?

As much as I have mixed feelings about Kikuchi's Z work, this is a plus. I give him props for appealing to the his own culture.

Fixed!

Honestly, BOTH the Japanese and the 'Merican fans are crazy!

Kikuchi BGM composed with so much love. Even my wife likes It. She complains if I watch the English or Yamato's version with my son, asking me why it sounds different and that it irritates here especially the U.S soundtrack lol
