Discussion regarding the entirety of the franchise in a general (meta) sense, including such aspects as: production, trends, merchandise, fan culture, and more.
I certainly agree that much of the execution is flawed, but the concept is fine - searching the galaxy, not just a planet, for DB's is a fun twist.
It seems what you want is more of a spinoff than anything else. Spinoffs are difficult to do well. You need a new cast of characters that the audience cares about, usually around a familiar group or individual, and that's so rare. Frasier did it very well that you almost forget that he was ever a character on another show, but that's very difficult and none of the characters you mentioned are a Frasier Crane.
I agree. Ideally, the series should've taken place not too long after EoZ, and should have begun with slice of life episodes, like what Super seems to be doing. We get to see old and new together, and slowly, it'd transition into the adventure of the new guys.
But it is indeed a hard thing to do right.

Amen, brother. I'll take Goku in any way, any day over Uub.
I get the feeling when I mention Uub, the first thing that comes to people's mind is GT Uub, who's a godawful character.
Z Uub is a blank piece of paper waiting to be filled.

Don't know if I like GT better if that is the only change. But It would have been nice to see Goku fight as an adult tho.
I think GT would have done a little better if Goku got wished back to an adult half way the series.

Maybe it's simply that I have odd tastes, but I don't think GT is nearly as bad as people claim. Uub isn't that bad in GT. I don't think he's a godawful character in GT. He's rather innocuous and a good guy, but just not interesting as a lead, and I don't know why after 500 episodes and so many more interesting characters that we do know, you'd want to center the show around Uub. I know that we know nothing about him, but it's just that - we know nothing about him. At least with Pan there's the familial connection.

How is GT Uub a "god awful" character? He may not be developed as much as he could've, but it's not like Toei completely ruined his personality or anything.. His design isn't that bad either, in my opinion. I don't care much for Super Uub though.

Can you name a more bland character from DB/DBZ?
Toei didn't ruin his personality; they gave him none.

There's Kibito.
He was so bland when he fused, they kept Kaioshin's personality.

To be honest, I think I cared more for Kibito than GT Uub. His moments with Gohan in Kaioshin's planet were great.

You know you loved the scene Dabura blasted him in the face too. ;D

I never cared for Kibito either. I kinda wished he stayed dead after Dabra killed him because he literally contributed nothing other than magically giving Gohan Goku's fighting gi.

But the fact that there are still people reading the series after all this time… All I can say is; “thank you.” Really, that’s all.

And that you also have IMMENSELY skewed and comically backwards priorities in what you think is most important and needed to make a good Dragon Ball story.

I like Kibito Kai's design. D:
And damn...all the Kibito hate. lol. I was always completely indifferent to him. He was just there cause Toriyama always likes introducing a duo. xD

I'm indifferent to him too, but it did get pretty annoying when he was on and on 24/7 about "these mortals can't be strong", "the mortals are underestimating Boo", "Gah! The mortals are powerful, impossible!"
Honestly, I think it would have been better, if the GT staff wanted to power cap Goku, to get rid of his transformations over turning him into a kid. It would have been great to see Goku try to regain his lost powers over him being a dumb child.

That hasn't stopped people from praising Furiosa to high heaven. Back on topic, it may not have been flashy and a stock personality but he has one. He's a good kid who wants to make his former teacher proud.
Hey at one point we knew nothing about Goku, Vegeta, Beerus, and still know nothing about Whis.
There was no DB before we got to know Goku, that's the difference and Vegeta was never the main character.

Main character isn't boiled down simply to screen minutes. It was all building to the confrontation between Beerus and Goku.

I had to look up who Furiosa is, and then realized you meant Mad Max. I liked that character. My friend liked her a lot too. Just found her cool and admirable. Max was the bland one in the movie, imo. idk. Fury Road was the first Mad Max I've ever seen.
As for Uub, as a viewer I just found him boring and didn't care for him. They didn't do anything with the character. On the contrary, I grew to care for Gohan when he was introduced. He was actually developed. As it stood, it was hard for them to do anything with a new character when everyone's so OP by the end of DBZ. Leveling him up the way they did and putting him in the same role as every other fodder character was a bad move. A very, very bad move.
