Is he really even that intelligent? Just cause he overworks and gets As doesn't mean he's at all brilliant. It just shows that he's a hard-worker in the academic world.

People who succeed at school are usually intelligent. Even if they study hard to do so, they're still intelligent, because they gained all of that knowledge through studying. Plus, he's going to write a book that's gonna change the entire world forever.

He's very knowledgeable. But when I think intelligent, the phrase that comes to mind is "quick to learn/comprehend." This guy has been forced to study all his life, so he had ample time to acquire the knowledge necessary to ace subjects he was already familiar with. =P

I mean, I don't think he's dumb, but even Goku may be smarter. He just doesn't apply himself to any sort of academics.

Gohan took like 3 years off studying when the androids came, so I think he is pretty intelligent to make up for that, and still get into a good high school and go to college on time. I don't think he is Bulma levels of smart, but I think he does alright.

Goku may or may not be a prodigy, but as it stands he can barely speak properly and his mastery of reading came from reading Master Roshi's erotica. He can't have more than elementary math. So we'll never know. I'm sure his mental capacity is perfectly normal, just… at this point, what metric are we even using to measure intelligence? If the metric was "will do well and excel in college and higher academics?" Goku does not fit that bill. He doesn't like it, won't work hard at it, and doesn't have enough of a foundation to do it on his own.

Seems to be a moron when it comes to battle smarts, while in academic intelligence he's probably above average but below genius.
