Goku in Smash Bros?

Frankly, Gokū in Smash would be a terrible idea. Even though he's appeared in many video games, he is not a video game character. Besides, every other third-party character has made sense so far; Pac-Man, Sonic, Mega Man, and Ryu are all very iconic video game characters. (Solid Snake was apparently done as a favor for Hideo Kojima.) It just wouldn't make sense to have Gokū as a character in Smash.

I disagree. I like many others would buy Smash just for Goku. He has many Nintendo exclusive games and his art style would fit perfectly. Smash Brothers can evolve a lot in the future.

Cloud makes sense from a business perspective if you think about. Yes, only FF 1-6 and most of the spin-offs were on Nintendo systems with a few of them featuring Cloud. But if they're representing FF in Smash it'll be smart to use that franchises most recognizable character.

As far Goku being in Smash? Nope. Can't happen unless Daddy Sakurai changes the rules. BUT, technically Tiencha or Beat could be in Smash since they originated from video games.

It can evolve, but I really don't think it should as far as that goes. Smash has always been, and should remain, a video game crossover fighting series. Including Gokū in Smash would be like including Mickey Mouse or Superman; it just wouldn't be right.

In regards to characters designed by Toriyama, Chrono from Chrono Trigger or, hell, for that matter Slime from Dragon Quest have greater chances of appearing in Smash than Goku as both franchises have strong ties with Nintendo's consoles.

Man, now I really want the main protagonist from Dragon Quest 8 to appear in smash. He would use a mix between a swords, spears, and boomerangs. And his final smash would be a full tensioned gigaslash where he pretty much goes pink Super Saiyan.

Just coming in here since the final Smash Direct ended today. That's all the DLC characters. Goku never ever in a million years and I couldn't be happier.

It's a shame that Beyonetta won the ballet. I was hoping for an Inkling, King K. Rool, or Shovel Knight. Also, Wolf really deserved to come back, and should have been part of the original roster, in my opinion.

Regardless though, I think that the entire gaming community really needs to thank Masahiro Sakurai. He worked his ASS off on this game, and he really deserves praise (and a break).

I see Bayonetta as a blessing really. First off, she really is unique in her own right. She brings a very diverse and special fighting style to the game and overall I think she's gonna fit in just fine. Shovel Knight and the inkling I can agree on but K. Rool and Wolf...plz no

Sakurai and his entire team need to be thrown the biggest party by nintendo. They worked themselves to death for this game and I think they deserve a nice, long, relaxing break. *5 days later* WHERE IS MY SMASH 5 SAKURAI?!

Well, Metal Gear Solid is an M rated series and Snake was in Brawl so I don't see how Bayonetta being from an M rated series would discount her. I get the 'wanting someone else' feeling. I'm just happy that she got in, I've always loved both stylish action games and Kamiya's work. Who knows, maybe Smash 5 will give us some more surprises.

No it was among the negotiable and realizable characters, Bayonetta was the overall #1 choice worldwide. So it wasn't that Sakurai didn't want to put them in. It was legal stuff.

No...Goku actually was barely cracking top 20 worldwide. Meanwhile...Bayonetta was #1 in Europe and routinely cracked top 5 in other areas. She also had massive and I do mean MASSIVE support in the early stages of the ballot. The only place Goku did well was in the US due to a bunch of campaigns. Also like Shadowdude pointed out, She was the overall #1 of the realizable choices, of which Goku was never one of.

This thread should be close since we know Goku is never going to be in Smash. Shrek had a lot of fan votes too and he has no reason to be in Smash as well.

I guess NRS could try to put Goku for a possible Injustice 2 as DLC. Having a official Goku vs. Superman would sell better then any of the DLC guest that NRS did for their other games.

Yeah since Smash is mainly for video game characters. Goku in the Injustice universe would be interesting since I would like to see what design that they would come up with for him to fit in the DC world.
