"Getting Used To" The Original Version

I don't actually know when I first heard the Japanese version but I remember being more intrigued by the the way Goku sounded rather than turned off like a lot of people. After a while I was able to appreciate fully that the voice used is nice and unique and also sums up the character very well. From then on it was easy to get adjusted to the other members of the Son family and I never had any problem with the other voices. I never had to bother with getting used to the Kikuchi score because when I saw it in dub I had the Japanese music and I always enjoyed it.

Goku's voice was the only thing that caught me off guard. I quickly getting used to it though, since there was no reason to say "All animes are better in japanese except Dragon Ball."
I still love our dub but now I can't turn back.

When I was a kid I got exposed to japanese Goku by accident, thanks to my World Strongest VHS tape that had a promo for Tree of Might still not dubbed. And I didn't understand why he sounded like that, since I thought DB was a portuguese show because of our jokes, I got confused there. A child innocence.

It honestly wasn't hard for me at all. I watched a clip from the Japanese version and I realized just how much was changed in the dub. That's all it took for me; I was hooked after that.

After I started watching Dragon Ball in Japanese, I started watching pretty much every other anime I watched in Japanese, too. I really haven't liked dubs since. I prefer pretty much everything in it's original language now.

I watched all 444 episodes and all movies in 2 months, it was that good. Masako Nozawa required a little bit of getting used to but everything else was perfect. It was all thanks to you and your dissection series that i became a purist and experienced the true version of the series. I am grateful to you for the rest of my life.

But just to clarify, I'm not expressing my surprise at watching the whole series in a short amount of time because I think there's something about the series that makes it unenjoyable to watch. I just don't see how anybody has the time! One, I'm lucky if I have time to watch one or two episodes in a single day. I have work, I have rehearsal, I have videos to make, I have some miniscule attempts at a social life. Two, even if I did have time, I just can't really marathon things. I can rarely watch more than one or two episodes of anything before I just feel compelled to do something else. And three, even when I spend a month or two watching one or two episodes of something every day, I lose interest. That's nothing against the material. I just feel compelled to do something else. I'll be in a Dragon Ball mood for a month or two, and then I'll go, "Hey, how about I watch some Star Trek?" And then I'll be in a Trek mood for a little while. And then I'll move on to something else. And then eventually I'll come back to Dragon Ball and be really into that for a little while. So, yeah, for those reasons, I find 444 episodes of anything in two months to be an impossible task!

I understand, man, any normal person would act like that, but not me. When i like something, i have to own it all, read it all, watch it all, love it all and all of that in a short ammount of time.
Also, i'm a lazy bastard so i have lots of time for entertainment.

I never really found it very hard to get used to the Japanese dub. I played a lot of Dragon Ball games, which all came in Japanese here in Europe up until Budokai 2, so I was introduced to the Japanese dub early on. When I finally watched the show in its original language for the first time, I already new what to expect from it. And by that time, I had already been watching anime in Japanese for around 3 years, so it took nearly no time getting used to. Not to mention that I thought from the start that the Portuguese dub was extremely weak, so I had nothing to lose from embracing the original version.
