My assumption would be no, as fitting 7-8 eps on each disc, with two angles and two audio tracks is already pushing it. However, it'd be the best idea to ask via AnimeonDVD.com's forums, where Lance Heiskell, a FUNImation rep, posts. No gaurantee of an answer but it's the best you've got really.

If there really is no Spanish dub included, I'm totally not buying this and just going on with the UUE singles. >_> I don't watch the English dub and I'm already buying the Japanese DVDs. The FUNi DVDs are the only ones that contain a legal way to obtain the Mexican Spanish-language dub in the US, and it'd be a shame if they didn't include it.

Wow... Seems like the majority of the board was banking on a box set to come out and congratulations to you all! But as for me, I have kept up with every UUE disc, shelling out around $20 each. That's nearly $200.

On the one hand, this is great news because the remaining discs to get up to episode 39 would probably cost me another $100 continuing this way so it just makes sense to purchase this box set. But, on the other, I feel very abused. The investment I've put into it is something I'm never going to get back and had I known this would some day be available at such a price, I never would have started. I sort of pride myself on not downloading the episodes.

Friends came over and watched Volume 9 with me the other night and it leaves off with Piccolo sacrifising himself and Goku just about to arrive to kick Saiyan butt. They didn't know that was all I had and they were like "WHAT?! We wanna see Goku whup dat butt" and I said, "Well, we gotta wait until July for the next dvd." They just laughed at me and said, "Go ahead and wait, waste your money, I'm going on Azureus tonight and downloading the whole friggin' show." I've restrained from that and this is how I'm rewarded.

Well, frankly, I'm pissed. At the same time it's like, well... In the long run the whole thing won't cost as much. I have a very love/hate relationship with this new development. Sorry for the length of this... But yeah, I'm with everyone else that got suckered.

Excellent. I've been waiting for a release like this, so I didn't buy any DBZ DVDs. I wonder if they are going to re-release the whole series in this format...? :D

Well, I sure as hell know I'm getting this release. Despite the fact that releasing this set before the singles are even finished doesn't make a lot of sense, I'm not asking questions. I'm just hyped. :D

It looks like the September "Season One: Vegeta Saga" boxset actually does contain eps. 1-39 on 5 DVDs. For $50 too.

Here's the link from Right Stuf: http://www.rightstuf.com/1-800-338-6827 ... 0376/4/0/0

So... I feel retarded for buying the UUE singles, in fact, I already sold them off this morning to my used bookstore. (Which is good, because I got $45 I can put down for this upcoming boxset.)

But still, Funimation! You should've released it this way from the start! AGH!

Bad damn, 8 eps crammed on a dvd for DBZ is a bit much, quality wont be ahem, too good...

If this were to be a consistient release of the DBZ TV series, then it'd be hands down the most affordable version in the world. That said, you have to wonder about FUNimation, who've gone on record to say only the nicest things about those who buy single anime volumes, and then pretty much bone them by doing this. I mean, if I were someone who bought their discs, atleast until now, I'd feel kind of jipped. I do realise it's standard practice to do a boxed release after singles, but this seems to be a pretty gigantic leap, considering this set is $50, and the equivilent ammount of episodes, if following the original 3 per disc route, san boxes, would've been $325 (all using RRP here). Perhaps the UUE discs weren't selling too well?

Still, it happened.

I dont know, if it's done with a bit of compotency it won't be too bad. Remember, there's only so far they can take their masters, and Live-action shows such as Stargate-SG1, which are 42-45 minutes per episode look fine at 4 eps per dual layer disc, with three audio tracks on. It just really, once agian, depends on how FUNimation do it. If they can make it so that the two video angles aren't entire episodes, then it won't be so bad.

Season One box set: $50 is an astounding price . . . but since the release is some months away, I imagine that this is a special pre-order price. I'll wager that the price will jump a bit when we come closer to September, or at least definitely after the set is released, so I'm absolutely going to take advantage of this right now. (Even if I am pissed as hell.)

Other DVD nonsense: Hmm. According to that same link, AAA Anime has the release date for Wrath of the Dragon pushed back to the 19th of September. Wasn't it originally scheduled for August 22nd?

Oh, well. The Right Stuf also has the new date posted, so it appears there's no mistake; FUNimation really has set back the movie's release by almost a month . . . but even September is earlier than I'd pegged this movie for, so you won't hear me complaining.

To be honest I like the new box art much better because the one here is very cartoony and too colorful. This one is nice, simple and cool looking! Hopefully its fully uncut, no holding back.

Well, I don't regret buying the UUE singles, and I'll probably continue to do so since I've planned my collection (specifically how I will have them arranged in my shelf) with them in mind.

Plus counting from the first UUE releases, I wouldn't have been able to wait this long. I'm perfectly content with having my Raditz fight and other stuff already. :)

I was put off buying the Funi DVDs due to their high price and the small number of episodes on a disc. I don't think I physically have space for 80+ DVDs. These new box sets are just what i'm looking for to replace my bootlegs. The Spanish dub is not important to me, just the Funi dub and original Japanese version with subtitles.

Is it available for pre-order anywhere else? I'll likely have to import it, so low shipping is a priority.

Is the price on Video Universe genuine? $20 is a bargain price!

*Ahem* that would be 39 episodes.
 .......:pants soiled:, but thanks for confriming it Daimao.

And as for the quality, the DB DVD Sets had about the same quality as the DBZ DVDs. They practically fit like 4-8 episodes on one disc & the quality was just about the same as the DBZ DVD single releases, so I have no doubt that FUNi would release just about the same quality they usually have or ,hopefully, the remasters.

It's a shame that it seems they won't have the Spanish-Mexican dub, but what's important is the JPN w/ subtitles for me, so still a good bargain.

Toei? Allow FUNimation access to the remastered footage?

What are you smoking, Sebastian? I want some of that.

This is a very poor move on Funimation's part. They were doing great by putting out single disks and a box with an action figure to start things off for each "season" as they are calling them I guess. It was going smoothly. People were buying each disk and many were very happy with the starter sets, myself included. It is not a good idea to release a redisigned bargon, especially at this early point. If they are going to release anything collective at all right now, then it should be a large, high priced box set with individual cases, to be quit frank. It's a cool set and I can understand them wanting to milk the series more with it, but it should be released WAY down the road and people will be perfectly happy to buy it. Ultamate Uncut supporters would have regained their money by then too, after spending it all on the individual disks. This truely is a re-re-release, Funimation has started something already and they need to choose an option.

Right. The main thing is... it's cheaper. I can understand why some are complaining because they've been wasting $20 a pop on those individual releases, but shouldn't people be happy that they can get acces to something so fantabulous at such a cheap price.

Of course, I'm staying skeptical until they actually release this puppy.

sidenote: Is cduniverse.com a trustworthy website to order it from? I mean, $21 off of an already cheap (in comparison to other) boxed set seems kinda shady...

Well, I've ordered all of my Saint Seiya DVDs (legal ADV release) from CD Universe and they were in perfect condition and shipped promptly.

So, I'd say it's a great little website. At least for anime DVDs, their preorders tend to be REALLY cheap anyway.
Nothing matters (in a cosmic sense.) Have a good time.
