Kanzenshuu Members Grade DB Super By Arcs!
Re: Kanzenshuu Members Grade DB Super By Arcs!
Bog: I thought the arc was pretty fun to watch and the animation wasn't bad out of episode 5. The fight and the transformation into ssg was much better. 75/100.
Rof arc: started off surprisingly strong and then turned into a mess with goku versus freeza. However freeza Vs vegeta was amazing. Also gohan had some development. So 60/100
Champa arc: I loved this arc. Awesome in every way. It had world building, comedy, and great fights. There were some things I would've done differently. It would have been great to see piccolo not only won against frost, but also against magetta using his brain. It would have been totally unexpected and shown strategy does matter. But that's just a nit pick. 85/100

I made a bet with Alee9977 that Vegeta won't be beaten quickly by an opponent. If I lose, I switch my avatar to Vegeta getting beat by hit. If I win, he switches it to Vegeta holding Black by his hair. This will last a month.

Re: Kanzenshuu Members Grade DB Super By Arcs!
Battle of Gods Arc: The slice-of-life episodes, the humor, Whis, change of scenery and I like that they expanded on the Goku VS Beerus fight. However, while the fight had its great moments, it was too long and it undermines Goku's development to just a small line. Certain episodes just kept dragging on and on with little to nothing happening. I also think they ruin Beerus' character for making him more sadistic than he was in the movie. Sure, it makes him more villainous, but it makes him a little less special. Pilaf's gang wasn't very great in this one either. The SSJ God ritual was visually more impressive and dramatic, but kind of made Videl's whole 'reveal' a little less emotional than it was in the movie (also the episode barely had anything happen).
Best Episodes: 1, 2, 6, 11, 14, 15
Score: 5/10
Resurrection 'F' Arc: The only saving grace of this arc was that the ending was told much better than the movie giving Gohan some development and such and also the slice-of-life episodes from the beginning. Tagoma was interesting, but was tossed aside quickly for Ginyu. Ginyu himself was entertaining, it was also too short and inconsequential. I also find Piccolo being killed off pretty unnecessary, and even his revival was sort of hand waved. Super Saiyan Blue was never explained at all despite having the chance to do so, and gave Vegeta a really lazy explanation for him to have the God form in the first place. The fights were pretty poor in general besides Tate's cuts. They also fixed Sorbet's ring scene here to make a bit more sense. Otherwise...pretty boring arc.
Best Episodes: 16 - 19
Score: 3/10
Universe 6 VS Universe 7 Tournament Arc: ...I wish they just started with this arc, because most of this arc was fantastic. It started alright, then it kept getting better and better and better. With the exception of Frost, every Universe 6 character was fantastic and interesting. Champa's whole dynamic was just great and played off of Beerus really well. I love the character interactions, some really interesting banter, interesting world building and the humor was fantastic. And, that Kaioken Super Saiyan Blue scene was just sexy. LOL Sure, it could've been animated with a bit more power, but that moment was just amazing. The only thing that could've improved this arc was Piccolo beating Frost and...well...good animation. Easily one of my favorite Dragon Ball story arcs in a long while. Can't wait to see what they do next. Hopefully using more of the other characters this time.

BOG arc:
Lore leading up to Beeru’s encounter with Goku was better then in the movie, and episodes 1 and 2 were nice additions, but thats about it. Compared to the movie, the Animation and the music sucked. Its clear when watching this that it was intended for a 2 hour movie, not a whole anime arc. End of the arc was completely ruined and didn’t feel epic at allI like it did in the movie.
- Gains points for at least trying to change things up, such as Bulmas Birthday party being moved, etc…
Arc score: 65/100. Movie score: 85/100.
—————————————————————————————
ROF arc.
Episodes 15 - 18 give us a nice "little" explanation to what happened between BOG and ROF(yet doesn’t explain how Goku or Vegeta jumped to SSJB), however, once we get into the actual “ROF” content, things go down hill. I might be in the minority, but I absolutely loved the ROF movie, and this arc massacred it.
- Horrible art and animation(Especially episode 24 omg.)(Episodes 20 and 25 looked good for the most part.)
- Absolutely destroyed any respect people could have towards Gohan and Kriillen( afraid of a weak frieza soldier? Really??)
- Killed off Piccolo for absolutely no reason.
Only pros are some of the fight scenes that take place in episode 25 are better than the movie, Lore with Champa is nice, and the “bridge episodes” between BOG and ROF. IMO, the positives do not outweigh the negatives.
Arc score: 45/100. Movie score: 90/100.
—————————————————————————————
U6 arc:
Finally, Super’s light at the end of the tunnel.
No major complaints, animation is a little stiff and off model at times, but noting as bad as the ROF arc. All the fights were interesting, especially Goku vs Hit(easily on of my favorite DB fights). Pacing was a little slow for the first 4 episodes, but great nonetheless. Overall, a fun, exciting, action pacted arc.

Re: Kanzenshuu Members Grade DB Super By Arcs!
Battle of Gods Arc - 70/100
A really promising start that kept me engaged, despite my having already seen the BoG movie twice at this point. Loved the expanded fight between Goku and Beerus on King Kai's planet. Loved how many side characters go some time to shine in the spotlight. The Goku vs. Beerus fight in space was more epic than in the movie, albeit perhaps at the expense of in universe power scaling. Animation in this arc had its highs and its lows, and music was pretty meh.
Revival of Frieza Arc - 55/100
There was so much potential here to have a fantastic, DBZ like epic saga that I can't help but feel was wasted. Really wanted to see them take their time and explain Goku and (especially) Vegeta's ascension to SSGSS. Would have like to have seen clips of Frieza's training. The Captain Ginyu vs. Gohan fight could have been epic, but was really lackluster. Music improved in this arc, but animation was really quite abysmal most of the time.
Chama Arc - 80/100
Finally, the first really great DBS arc. The tournament felt like a powered up throwback to the Dragon Ball tournament arcs, which is a plus. The creativity on showcase in regards to fighting strategy was a really, really welcome change of pace - not just "my punch is stronger than yours!," but honest to goodness thought put into the action. Vados remains an extraordinarily intriguing character, while Hit has the makings of a great rival to Goku and the other Z-fighters. SSJSS Kaio-Ken Goku vs. Hit remains one of the greatest fights in all four Dragon Ball series. On the other hand, the lack of Gohan is extremely disappointing. I also wish that this arc built up to something more - it felt like there were some loose ends that could have been built upon, like what Champa's wish was going to be, or why Hit wanted the Cube. Animation was improved, but not great, and the music was again so-so.

BoG 4/10
The bad: The infamous horrible art and animations in some episodes, the whole Super Saiyan God thing (think it's a cheap and cliché way to create a new transformation), Pilaf and company...
The good: Vegeta on vacation. That's it.
RoF 3/10
The bad: Rehashed villain only for nostalgia, all the contradictions with DBZ (Freezer keeping his body after more than a year, Gohan and the mystic thing, Goku & Vegeta going in the Hyperbolic time chamber for THREE days, etc), Goku stealing the show again, Freezer training for 4 months... GOHAN. Piccolo dying for our sins.
The good: Maybe seeing old characters do SOMETHING (not much though).
U6 5/10
The bad: Goku being an idiot, horrible, uninspired character designs (as in the rest of the show), Cabba turning super saiyan barely knowing what it is, Freezer 2, Monaka.
The good: Some fights were entertaining, I guess.
Overall, while it physically hurts me to watch this show, it is enjoyable at times. Maybe for nostalgia, maybe for morbid curiosity, or maybe both

Re: Kanzenshuu Members Grade DB Super By Arcs!
Battle of gods arc: I liked the start of it it showed us the 2 main characters in their normal day lives, and how they explained Vegeta's motives and saying that he admitted that Goku was stronger than him but that doesn't mean he will be stronger than him for ever. The Humor for the arc was Great, Episode 5 left a bad taste in many peoples mouths (Not mine). And then Beerus arrives to Bulma's ship, and here is where it gets intresting. I liked the fact that they made Beerus feel more of a threat and that he could destroy what ever he wants when ever he wants and no one can do anything about it. The Transformation into SSG was AWESOME and the fight was Great and was better than the movie and longer.
Overall score: 95/100
episodes 15-16: They where awesome to me I loved them to death 100/100, don't want to consider it a part of the resurrection F arc
Resurrection F arc: I liked the start of it, the training stuff was AWESOME and everything was great till we got to episode 24... and here is where shit goes haywire..I disliked the fight because of the Animation and for the most part I couldn't even compare it to the movie. But the Vegeta fight was damn right better than the movie because he gave Frieza more of beatdown and it was just more badass and episode 27 had a really really nice ending with Vegeta and Goku eating and smilling.
Overall score: 60/100
God of destruction Tournament arc (AKA Champa arc): Ow my god. I loved it to bits! Bulma and jaco going to Zuno's place was hilarious to The episode where Goku and Vegeta were training and getting ready for the tournament and they grew beards
. The Fight was a meh and goku vs frost was a meh too, But Piccolo vs Frost and Vegeta vs Frost was amazing to me and you'll know why. I LOVE VEGETA and ow my god was it a time to love Vegeta!! so much badass moments for Vegeta in this arc. He one punched Frost, The battle against Maggeta I loved it! the way he broke the barrier and the final flash was awesome. And now we get to my favorite moment of the arc.. Vegeta vs Cabba was so much Fun to me, I remember watching it for the first time and just flipping around when Vegeta turned super saiyan and was Pummeling Cabba, and then it happened Cabba transforms! and goes on a fit of rage and Vegeta looks like he is losing and then BAM he takes a full force punch from Cabba and it doesn't even faze him and then he show's Cabba SSB and the speech he gave to him afterwards was just heart warming Honestly. Also the Fight Against Hit wasn't so bad for me, even though Vegeta lost badly I didn't care because it was so awesome that he almost had Hit and then he lost. Also I absolutely Loved Hit vs Goku and episode 39 as a whole
Enough rambling though let me give you my score.
Overall score: 100/100 becuase I loved it.

BoG - 70%, it was slow at times but the titular fight was great and surpassed the movie. A suitable starting point for the revival of Dragon Ball
RoF - 50%, a pretty weak arc with not much point or story, and the animation was really bad at times. The movie did it better for the most part.
Champa - 90%, this was an amazing arc and I enjoyed every minute of it. The only flaw for me is there wasn't much at stake, we need an arc with a villain like in Frieza, Cell, and Buu arcs. Which we will be getting shortly, and I'm very excited for it

Re: Kanzenshuu Members Grade DB Super By Arcs!
So, for what it's worth, I just rewatched the last two episodes of the Freeza arc and ... I was a little hard on it. The ending is better than the movie, directing-wise and soundtrack-wise, even if the animation throughout the whole arc pales in comparison (and reaches some lows for the series). Episode 27 has some real gravitas to it, with Vegeta's vengeance being satisfying as hell and Beerus taking Goku to task for not finishing off Freeza seeming like a rather important character beat (will it be? I don't know; but it certainly plays like one in the moment).
Tate's cut of the Goku vs. Freeza fight is also a lot more interesting than anything we get out of the movie, and -- man, I'd love to see that whole fight redone without a complete absence of time for the TV version. In general I don't mind the TV version's beats for it--the lackluster animation just has trouble selling many of them.
It's still clearly a storyline written for a movie (and in general it's one I like, whereas I know many people would rather scrap the whole thing). The TV version is a real mixed bag with some incredibly distracting lows, but a few moments that manage to scrape by as seeming genuinely good when the direction can outweigh the lackluster animation. I might like it more than the Battle of Gods TV arc, if that says anything. There's something that's outclassed by its movie counterpart in every single way.
I've also been rewatching the Namek arc via Kai, so maybe I'm just a little more warm to it right now. I know many, many longtime fans disagree, but I think Freeza's sendoff in either version of the "F" arc is absolutely perfect. It's one of the things I most enjoy about the post-revival material.

Re: Kanzenshuu Members Grade DB Super By Arcs!
Hello, i'm new and well this is my rating for Super (the first three arcs).
BoG
75/100.
I really liked this arc, despite it's flaws, at first i was off after watching ep 5, and i thought (for a moment) that it could be the end of super, but then i found myself enjoying the show, and there were a lot of scenes that were better than the movie; even thought i didn't like how super deleted the development that Goku got in the movie.
I loved how Beerus seemed more dangerous here than in the movie, cause after the fight, it really felt like Goku had changed Beerus ( a little bit).
Goku's s transformation was cool and i liked how this form looks stronger than in the movie (i mean come on Goku just got a huge power boost)
However i found stupid and boring the fact that it was just a reash and it was even more annoying after reading the manga version, because at least in the manga we could see Vados and Champa doing stuff, you know something new. Also the fight was too long, i wanted to see a long and epic battle but not thaaat long, but i have to admit that if i hadn't watched the movie i wouldn't care.
The rock, paper, scissors game was too boring, it was handled way better in the movie, ep 4 was boring as well (i don't like the Pilaf gang that much).
But overall it wasn't bad at all
RoF
40/100
This arc was terrible, and i think that i'm being too generous giving it this score
.
First off, it was pointless to redo RoF, yeah i know that this is the same case with BoG, but at least that arc was enjoyable overall and it has connection with the expanded db universe (gods, different universe, balance....etc), with RoF i don't feel any of that.
I have to admit, that i liked th first episodes, i liked to see Goku and Vegeta training together, i liked Gohan's character development (and Krillin's as well), i liked to see the Z gang fighting, i liked how Freeza is the bastard that we love, and ep 27 was great; but that is not going to save the mess that this arc was (it's only saving it from getting a lower score).
The animation/art was bad overall, yeah, i know, there were some good animated scenes but overall it was bad.
Tagoma was a character completely waste thanks to Ginyu, just so we could see Vegeta killing the last member of the Ginyu force. Piccolo's sacrifice was another wasted idea as how nobody seemed to care two episodes later, it was stupid as well, i mean, i was hoping that Piccolo wasn't dead, i hoped that he just seemed to be dead (like in Namek), and in the end, not only he died, but he was revived off scene.
This was a rushed arc from a movie that we saw that same year, RoF should have stayed as a non canon movie, (kinda like Broly's movies) as it's non existence, wouldn't affect any other arc or the plot itself and it's not even related in any kind of way with any arc.
Champa's arc.
84/100
This arc was great
, i liked almost everything related to it.
The animation, despite being off or stiff sometimes, had improved a lot.
I liked every single character except Botamo.
I like to see Beerus and Champa together, they remind me my Brother and every sinlge little brawl that i have with him
I like the concept of the super dragon balls, and despite being bad animated, i liked the dragon's summoning (i don't really know why, i just like it).
Despite having no stakes, this arc gave some character development to Cabba, Vegeta, Hit and even Beerus, and that's cool.
I hope that dbs keeps improving in the new arc, it has the potential to be something great.
PD: Sorry for the grammar (if there's something wrong with it)
BoG

Re: Kanzenshuu Members Grade DB Super By Arcs!
I'll try to keep this simple...
Battle of Gods Arc: 90/100
Excellent backstory for Beerus and Whis, and I personally enjoyed how long Goku and Beerus' fight was. There were some things they could've left out, but overall I found it great.
Resurrection 'F' Arc: 75/100
I don't have the movie to compare it with at this point, but it was still better than most people say. I don't think Tagoma was wasted, he seems to have a bigger role than what I've heard from the movie. Unnecessary Piccolo sacrifice, considering Goku mentioning the Dragon Balls not 5 minutes later. The animation was off in two, three episodes, but nothing to really whine about. Ending was not anticlimactic, although Vegeta still should have killed Frieza IMO. Overall really good.
Universe 6 Arc coming in a future post (still watching it).

Re: Kanzenshuu Members Grade DB Super By Arcs!
BOG: 6/10 - This saga was okay. It added more fight scenes that the movie didn't have. This saga felt like it too forever to end and it didn't add much else that the movie didn't already cover. I rather watch the movie instead.
ROF: 4/10 - This saga was boring with bad animation and stupid changes like Piccolo's death. While the ROF movie is not perfect, it's still way better than this saga in Super foe sure. At least the ROF movie had good animation (expect for the bad CG), way better fight scenes and I felt like the story was told better. The only improvement was made was Shenron's wish count was fixed. Otherwise, skip this arc and go watch the movie instead.
Champa: 7/10 - This saga was very enjoyable in my opinion. I like that we had a normal tournament again with no interruption or it being unfinished. Tournaments are my favorite part of the series and it was nice to have another proper one. The saga give us a lot of cool new characters and new info on the Dragon Ball Universe overall. Champa himself was fun and I really like Vados too. My only issue with the Champa saga is that Frost being evil was stupid. I know that his motivations and personality is different from Freeza, but he is still a rehash of Freeza. I like him better than Coola, but not much. This saga was a big step up over the last two, but still had some flaws from being a 8/10.

Re: Kanzenshuu Members Grade DB Super By Arcs!
Battle of Gods - 6/10 - To put this into perspective, I probably view the original film as a solid 9. It had just about everything I could have asked for out of a Dragon Ball film. While Super's version of it mostly follows the same path albeit at a much slower pace, the changes it made or parts it omitted were for the worse. The lack of explanation for the Pilaf gang's age is baffling stupid, especially considering they had a wonderfully done solo episode that could have easily served as a good set-up for their presence. Unfortunately, the omission of their key scenes in the film leave their presence feeling entirely pointless. I expect an extended telling of a story to actually extend things, not take them away.
I quite enjoyed Beerus' build-up in Super. There's a popular line of thinking that it detracts from his overall atypical bad guy personality that was praised so heavily in the film, but I think in hindsight, it actually helps reinforce how much of a threat Beerus can be. This is especially important when we reach the Universe 6 arc and we're supposed to worry with Bulma about what Beerus' wish may be. It's a small change that doesn't amount to much in the end, but I think it's an important one.
On the other hand, the changes to Goku's personality really bugged me. In the movie, one of the most exciting parts revolved around his total distaste for the Super Saiyan God form. He didn't achieve it through any hard work, it was given to him, and he hated that. That's wonderful! That's so Goku and I think it does a good job of reinforcing his character. Super changes that around so that he spends a great deal of time talking about how 'excited' he is. I think it's fine to be excited, but omitting his distaste for the form ultimately leads to him feeling quite out of character. That just doesn't sit well with me.
Thankfully, the changes to the fight were almost all for the better. Episode 11 is still an absolute standout episode from a storytelling point of view. It adds an extra twist to the story that the original film could have done with. Really liked it. The remaining episodes wrap things up rather nicely, too. No complaints there.
With the addition of the Chef Vegeta moment, the early slice of episodes, and the extra Satan shenanigans, I think the arc totals up to a pretty fair 6/10. It's not anywhere as good as the film, but the positive additions here and there save it from being a total train wreck.
Golden Freeza - 3/10 - The film felt like wasted potential and fan-service filler the first time around, so to see the TV show waste almost every opportunity at amending these issues brought the whole thing crashing down. It earns a 3 entirely for episodes 16, 17, and 18. I adored Vegeta prostrating himself just so that he could train. I loved the Goku antics as he desperately tried to convince Whis to train him, too. This is all topped off by genuine old-school training. Just about everything I could have asked for!
That's pretty much where the praise ends. Keeping Tagoma alive was a great choice, but then to waste him character by bringing back Ginyu just destroyed any chance that had of being worthwhile. Piccolo's sacrifice ultimately ended the same way. While it's a nice idea, it doesn't actually come to any fruition. He's wished back off-screen, and Gohan's motivation to train could have easily been reinforced through the fact his wife and child dies! It just felt like drama for drama's sake.
The big fight is somehow worse than the film with the exception of Tate's cut, and the Vegeta beatdown is overly gratuitous and comes off like fan-service. The added reaction shots as the planet blows up are nice, as is the extended ending, but it doesn't do enough to really redeem the rest of the arc.
All in all, just a really horrendous time for the series. Not a fan whatsoever. Truly made me lose hope in the series.
Universe 6 Tournament - 7/10 - Arguably Super's real beginning. I think it says a lot about the previous arc when you could easily stitch it together with Battle of Gods by simply explaining the Super Saiyan Blue form later down the line. We begin with Goku and Vegeta training on Beerus' planet as Champa and Vados arrive. It's a really wonderful introduction for these characters. Instantly we understand their personalities, the dynamic between the two, and once Beerus shows up, their relationship is contextualised, too. In the same way that the Battle of Gods movie introduced Beerus and Whis in a very short amount of time, this opening episode does exactly the same for this other pair. A very strong start to the arc.
World-building is fun, and this arc is full of it. I thoroughly enjoyed Bulma and Jaco heading off to talk to Zuno. It gave me that lovely feeling of seeing Kaio's planet or Enma's place for the first time. Lots of unusual designs based off of traditional Asian artwork. This is only bettered by the unique personality of Zuno and the lovely gags that are set up around him. Would love to see more stuff like this in the upcoming arcs.
The meaty part of the arc begins with the tournament, and this is sadly where a lot of my interest fell off. A horribly animated Botamo fight didn't get us off to the best of starts, but the idea of a good Freeza was at least somewhat intriguing. This is of course thrown away almost instantly, and for me, is probably the lowest point of the arc. We get given Freeza in Resurrection F the movie, then again in the Super retelling, and now we have another Freeza-but-not-Freeza in the next arc. That is far too many Freeza characters in less than 12 months. Did not enjoy it at all. At least Piccolo's fight sort-of made up for things, but shoddy animation once again brings things down. I also wasn't a huge fan of Piccolo forfeiting. Seemed unnecessary, and was probably the first time I'd really been bothered by the 'Goku/Vegeta show' that fans like to go on about.
Vegeta and Magetta was moderately entertaining, though I think two episodes and a lack of good animation left me quite bored. Two signature attacks in one fight was also way too much fan service for my tastes. Either way, it was definitely the most solid fight up to this point, and I really enjoyed Magetta as a character. Vegeta's attacks aside, the whole thing felt a bit like a classic Dragon Ball affair, which is never a bad thing. It served its purpose, even if it wasn't the most exciting thing in the world.
Cabba is where things really picked up for me. The notion of good Saiyans is really intriguing, and the huge point about perhaps visiting their world one day really sparked something in me. Reminded me of the open end to Battle of Gods. I hope they deliver. But yeah, the fight was great. Solid animation, solid direction, great writing, and pretty much everything you want from an episode like this. It felt like it developed Cabba, provided insight into Vegeta's personality, and also did that good ol' world building that I love. It was definitely the first episode where I walked away genuinely happy.
Hit vs Vegeta is my favourite episode in the arc. It's incredible in so many ways. Hit is built up as the 'big bad' of the series, and this episode brings it all the forefront of the story. After such a long streak for Vegeta, to see him so ruthlessly beaten is heartbreaking, but also incredibly exciting. It's wonderfully animated, the music placement is great, and the direction gives us the genuine feeling of tension that I'd been after for so long. No complaints. To me, it's the perfect example of a truly excellent episode next to #11.
Goku vs Hit didn't really do that much for me, if I'm being honest. The episode is cited by many fans as being 'Super at its best', but I really disagree. Outside of its ending, it was just a series of averagely animated flurries, time-skip flurries, talking, and repeat into ad nauseam. It had none of the tension of the previous episode, and I just felt quite bored by it. Thankfully, the return of Kaioken spices things up, and the use of the series' theme song during the climactic parts really did a great job of bringing the episode to a close. I wasn't a huge fan of the fight continuing on into the next episode, but I loved how the fight ended. Once again, it subverted my expectations in the same way the Battle of Gods film did, and opened up a new rivalry that reminded me of what Goku and Tenshinhan once had. Great stuff.
Things are wrapped up with some world building in the form of the King of All, and of course the big ol' golden dragon. The animation greatly lets things down, but the idea of it all was nice, at least. We're left with the idea of a future tournament, which doesn't exactly excite me, but I'll reserve judgement until we see it.
The whole arc ultimately feels very inoffensive. It has a couple of exciting moments, but doesn't actually do anything too drastic that could cause offense. It's a decent watch, but it's mostly uncompelling for what should have been one hell of a tournament. The new characters (Cabba aside) lack compelling backstories in the same way that made characters like Namu and Shen so fun in the early tournaments. There's nothing more boring that rooting for our heroes to win over and over again, especially at this point in the series where we know that almost nothing is going to stand in their way. I really wanted characters that would make our heroes think twice about the outcome of the fight. Give me a reason to feel compelled by these matches! As it stands, it's an okay little arc that takes us through the motions in a reasonably predictable manner. Nothing awful, nothing special.
I quite enjoyed Beerus' build-up in Super. There's a popular line of thinking that it detracts from his overall atypical bad guy personality that was praised so heavily in the film, but I think in hindsight, it actually helps reinforce how much of a threat Beerus can be. Battle of Gods arc: 5/10
It's no secret I'm a very big fan of the movie, often using it as an example of how to do a standard DB story "peace on Earth when a surprise visitor arrives to stir up trouble" for some interesting developments like giving Goku a personality for the first time in ever!
The arc, however, suffers from a lot of problems that stem from them cutting out the movies meat and replacing it with fluff. Beerus vs Oolong had no business EVER getting an entire episode devoted to it, Vegeta's reaction to the slap was comical, the varied locales for the big Goku vs Beerus fight are replaced with boring ocean and boring space respectively and the interesting dialogue about Goku's pride and him accepting defeat are replaced with roughly an hour of "SUPPA SAIYAJIN GODDO!" and "BEERUS-SAMA!". Riveting shit. The only reason I don't rank this lower is because I like the second episode with Vegeta going on vacation with his family, the episode where he's trying to keep Beerus from snapping and the final episode where Goku and Beerus FINALLY get a good amount of time just to fight without perpetual breaks for nothing dialogue helps somewhat save the arc from a total flop for me.
Resurrection F arc: 0/10
The movie is a piece of crap and this somehow ended up being even worse. The only reason anyone should ever make someone else watch this shite is to actually torture them with it.
Universe 6 arc: 6/10
This arc is very much the Avengers/Days of Future Past of Super, an end result that could've turned out to be a wholly unwatchable piece of garbage all things considered but reached the great height of basically okay so, of course, everyone's inflated their score of it well past what it really should get imo.
The best parts of the arc for me were Goku vs Botamo, Piccolo vs Frost, Vegeta vs Magetta (the manga) and bits and pieces of Goku vs Hit. These portions all worked thanks to either good use of comedy, use of some tactics for once or having some old techniques return. This, coupled with some noticeably better animation throughout helped make the proceedings more enjoyable overall.
The issues come in with certain developments feeling really forced like Vegeta trying to mentor Cabba, Frost just being a slightly more cunning version of Beerus, Vegeta vs Magetta trying to be this tense fight in the anime when you know they're just making Vegeta stupid to try and make such an encounter not end with a winning one shot move for Vegeta. I'm not a fan of how the powers remain thoroughly fucked or how they keep retconning past accomplishments to make the new stuff seem more special. Nor was I fan of how Vegeta basically wins the whole fucking tournament for them, making Piccolo and Boo's inclusions feel pointless and massive wasted opportunities.

When someone tells you, "Don't present your opinion as fact," what they're actually saying is, "Don't present your opinion with any conviction. Because I don't like your opinion, and I want to be able to dismiss it as easily as possible." Don't fall for it.

BoG: 3/10
It's a WAY worse version of the really good movie, but it's kinda watchable a the very least.
RoF: 0/10
YOU GET NOTHING! YOU LOSE! GOOD DAY SIR! The worst arc in all of Dragon Ball history. It's that bad. Not even in the so bad it's good way either. Just bad. The only thing it accomplished is that it made me like the RoF movie more in comparison. I used to think the RoF movie was kinda bad, but after seeing this it's GODLY in comparison.
Universe 6 Tournament: 4/10
It had a couple of sorta neat moments, but that's it. It's full of wasted potential, and the Goku vs Hit fight was the only actually good fight. I would have bumped the score up quite a bit if the Universe 6 fighters were actually interesting characters, but none of them are. It's only as good as the WORST parts of DB, DBZ, and DBGT. I'd rank my enjoyment of this lower than the Black Star Dragon Ball arc. Unpopular opinion I know, but I'd at least give that a 4.5/10. It at least had good animation, and a couple of neat fights instead of just one.
Future Trunks arc had a good first episode, but they better keep that same quality or it'll suck too.

You're a little TOO positive... I kinda wish I was like that. I'd sure as hell be enjoying this series more.Anime Kitten wrote:I'll try to keep this simple...
Battle of Gods Arc: 90/100
Excellent backstory for Beerus and Whis, and I personally enjoyed how long Goku and Beerus' fight was. There were some things they could've left out, but overall I found it great.![]()
Resurrection 'F' Arc: 75/100
I don't have the movie to compare it with at this point, but it was still better than most people say. I don't think Tagoma was wasted, he seems to have a bigger role than what I've heard from the movie. Unnecessary Piccolo sacrifice, considering Goku mentioning the Dragon Balls not 5 minutes later. The animation was off in two, three episodes, but nothing to really whine about. Ending was not anticlimactic, although Vegeta still should have killed Frieza IMO. Overall really good.![]()
Universe 6 Arc coming in a future post (still watching it).
By the way, in the movie Tagoma wasn't meant to be major. He was just a random soldier there. In the series on the other hand they hype him up just to make him Ginyu fodder. I hoped Ginyu at least wouldn't be wasted like Tagoma was, but nope. Vegeta just one shots him. The thing I question honestly, is how you think he wasn't wasted. All he did really was get headbutted in the balls.
