What? What is this strange move you speak of? You couldn't be referring to the Makankosappo, could you? :D

Trunks stopped, watching the battle in his mind, shocked that anyone could be stronger than his dad-- so Goku got frustrated after feeling that his chi had stopped moving and knew that everyone was watching, so he just shouted for Trunks hurry up and get the radar, leaving Babidi asking who he was yelling at.
But didn't you have to have your eyes closed to "connect?" I don't think Trunks did that.
Well, first of all, they only had to close their eyes to see what was happening and could still hear whatever Babidi wanted them to. Second all of... Yes, Trunks' eyes were closed.

Actually, it was used many more times than that. Hell... Cell practically brought it back into style. 8)

When? The special beam cannon is fired from two fingers, Cell killed Trunks with a death beam.

Well, Cell uses it against Piccolo when he was still imperfect. Also, the Cell Jr's use it. I'm also fairly sure that Piccolo himself uses it a couple of times outside of the Saiyan Saga at certain points, I'm just having a hard time remembering exactly when. Anyone help me out here?

I remember Super Buu using it against Gohan, as well.

Well, in all fairness... Piccolo only uses it once, so you're partially right.

Canonically speaking, Piccolo uses the Makankosappo 3 times.

Twice against Raditz.
Once against Nappa (this is usually overlooked, because it isn't very emphasized...).

Non-canonically...however...

Against Tullece.
Kills "Sauzer/Salza" (or however it's spelled) at the end of Movie 5.
Deflects Broli's blast in Movie 8.
Defelcts Bojacks blast in Movie 9.

And I'm sure there are some fillers he uses it in, plus the fact the Cell and the Cell Juniors use it a number of times (all fillers).

So yeah...it's not completely overlooked. Not like the Sokidan or Shiyo-ken.

I don't believe that was the Special Beam Cannon (Makankossapo) that he fired at Nappa. It was a blast with a spiral, but it was shot with two hands and it was not a narrow beam. It is a similar attack, so maybe it should be left as another debate. Also, he never uses it in movie 8.

From what I remember, these are all of the times he performes it in the anime.

. Against Raditz to pierce his shoulder and then for the kill.
. To destroy Goku's space ship when Gohan was Oozaru.
. His split form fires one at him when they are training.
. Four of his split forms fire one at him at the same time, at the beginning of the Garlic Jr arc.
. Against perfect Cell to help Gohan in their final beam struggle.
. Against Gohan Baby in DBGT.
. Against Turles in movie 3.
. To kill Salza in movie 5.
. At Bojack's attack in movie 9.

Cell also uses it once against Piccolo and then against SS Goku during the Cell Games while using the Multi Form. A cell Jr fires one at SS2 Gohan and Super Buu fires one at "mystic" Gohan.

On the subject, I was always dissapointed that Gohan never used his Masenko after the Cell Games. I understand that he was supposed to come off as more like Goku when he was older, but it's too bad. It's my favorite technique and I was very happy to see him using it againced Broly in movie 8. I'm glad that video games such as Final Bout included it with his adult form as well.

I also don't see why Yamcha never used his Wolf Fang Fist in DBZ, also one of my favorites. I think that the Budokai games did it justice.
