I just don't get it. Let's say there's a parody of Dragonball Evolution. It's genuinely, legitimately entertaining and funny. You can like that more than the original, apparently indescribably awful movie. But if there's a parody of Dragon Ball Z, it's likely that the parody isn't as good as the original work (which is obviously awesome), but still entertaining.

My point being, I won't stop anyone from ranking it above the original work (so do whatever you want), but I'll probably never understand.

I don't get your meaning here. Are you saying that it can't be more entertaining? Or that somehow some fans thinking one thing mean other fans think the same? I find DBZA more entertaining then Z, so I prefer it to z. Simple.

No, I said in this case DBZA is NOT more entertaining than the original. Why do you find it more entertaining than DBZ? Is it the amateur acting that you like?

Sort of. Androids saga at least had a forest and islands. The Cell games stage is pretty unique too. Then there are things like Babidi's ship which have endless possibilities for fighting venues.

I find the writing overall to be great, with set up and payoff being equally great, enhancing previously undewhelming scenes of the show and overall making for a hilarious thing to watch. Every bit of dialouge is packed with character. Which is pretty good for the first part of the series where they hadpretty shit editing an voice, making it much better when both of those aspects were improved. So, I enjoy it.

I love the amount of green in the Cell Games Arena stage in Xenoverse:

Not many would put Abridged as being better than the original. A few have that opinion which is I obviously don't agree with, but those who do don't appreciate that without Z, there wouldn't be an Abridged. I have seen their remake of the Saiyan, Freeza, and Cell arcs. All Abridged has done is change the voices and edit the scenes. It has its funny moments, but if you're concerned that many think Abridged is right up there with the original, then I'm here to assure you: You have nothing worry about, my friend.

None of the dialog is packed with character. It's gag after gag. It's not character based humor at all. What setup and payoff are you referring to? And point to a specific scene that was underwhelming in the original but great in Abridged. I know humor is subjective, but what's funny about the whole Vegeta's fake "I'm sorry" bit at the end of the Saiyan arc battle?
You have nothing worry about, my friend.
The numerous times I've seen their voice actors included on lists of DB actors has me thinking otherwise.

I don't compare Z to Abridged, but Super to Abridged, and for me, I'm looking forward more to Abridged, as it have more respect for characters, while it started as parody series, now it have lots of cool and serious momens ("How many people? Enough""Did Gohan know, that you let him die?" My point is, some stuff fans made, is better than official anime, but that's my opinion

Without Robin Hood: Prince of Thieves, there would be no Robin Hood: Men in Tights.

Men in Tights totally kicks Prince of Thieves' ass.

Just because something is the original, that doesn't mean it's of higher quality, or that it is, by whatever scale you are using, necessarily "better" than the derivative product.

Dragon Ball and Abridged both have "entertainment" as their primary goal. I find Abridged to be much more entertaining. Therefore, to me, it's "better."

But it's not clever. The jokes are telegraphed a mile away. I get that people find black humor funny even though it's not my taste, but this lacks anything coming close to funny, clever, or surprising.

But it wasn't the original. Men in Tights is a parody of Robin Hood adaptations in general, not just Prince of Thieves, which is a good movie.

All of you guys saying it's funny and of high quality has thinking of Mugatu's line from Zoolander, I feel like I'm taking crazy pills.

Have you watched it recently? The cell arc is phenomenal. If the fights were exactly like the actual series than it would be better than the original entertainment wise. There is plenty of character based humour.
Vegeta: pride and anger is much like the original, but they make it humorous. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0fS80eaPKXs

Just like in Super, Goku is a retard but again they make it funny. They even have a moment where it truly shows Goku's a genius when it comes to fighting. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=69_O0w3UH0w

The humour comes directly from the characters personalities. Vegeta's a prideful maniac, Goku's stupid but smart at fighting, Gohan's a nerd, krillin makes jokes about how useless he is, trunks is still straight to the point. They take some liberties with the characters when compared to DBZ, but in TFS they all have consistent personalites that generate humour,

I'm growing a bit worried about Abridged, its starting to become a serious retelling of the show, which isnt bad perse but its at its best when it pokes fun and or makes fun jokes. And I dont like when stuff that starts out funny starts to forget its funny in the first place. And its probable it fits under copyright infringement. Because it doesnt fall under parody anymore.

I can't bring myself to do it. I've already watched WAY more than I care to in hopes that it might get better. I'm not waiting 4 seasons for a show to get good. You found that clip funny? The clip where they show Goku is a genius at fighting is not funny, and just used the gist of the original dialog. Also, what is with Goku sounding like a stereotypical gay character?

It's funny because his character. Out of context it wouldnt be so funny but seeing how stupid he sounds the entire time, it becomes a funny moment. At least to me. Also the editing is awesome. It goes from Goku saying "in a laymans terms..." then to "you can't hit me" from cell which does all the explaining.

I know the context of the scene. Is it funny because he's high pitched and almost like Jack from Will & Grace?

I actually enjoy Abridged. You're right in that both Dragonball and Abridged are aiming towards entertainment. However, all Abridged has done is take the same characters, same animation, and same plot to exaggerate it with hilarious humor & new voices. I take into account obstacles the original had to go through to become the success it became. My main point is that I have more appreciation for the original because of the work they put in to produce the entertainment, and for that reason I value it higher than Abridged.
