Honestly, If I could look into the future I'd have to say it's going to be looked at the way we look at GT now. Appreciated, but it's going to be more-so nit-picked especially the power scale to the point to where it will be held under "Z". I think it will be both loved and hated but because of the retcons of Potara, power scales being upside down, no explanation of the forms, etc etc.. That it will be looked at exactly as GT, perhaps a held up a bit higher just because of Beerus and it coming from Toriyama. I have a feeling a lot of people will hate it solely because it kicked off the eternal "milking" meaning the franchise will never die or rest again. (Multiple manga spin-offs, video games, possibly spin-off anime's etc..) I could also see a future artist like Toyble creating "Super AF" or some kind of manga that will get famous like the original AF. Oh yea! I'm looking for Toyotaro/Toyble to take over as "author" before long as well so that might get some heat in the future and it will all be blamed on Super for being the start of it all.

No. We're four arcs in. The movie retellings are still Super arcs.

For me, it all depends on how this upcoming Universal Survival Arc will pan out. To me Super started with the U6 tournament because I don't include the 2 retelling Arcs at all. The U6 Arc wasn't that bad but it could have been so much better had they not set up everything just for it to be a Goku & Vegeta fest. It was so disappointing that every fighter on U6 minus Hit could have been beaten fairly easily if Goku or Vegeta went full power.

The Goku Black Arc was alright, but between the very conusing time travel story, and the messed up ending where Zeno blows up an entire timeline, killing so many innocents in the process, and then Trunks going to a timeline where there would be another version of him & Mai is just a bad ending to me. Sure Trunks gets to see the people he loved again, but it just isn't the same. The ending was so unsatisfying and so open-ended that it really left a foul taste in me.

With that being said, I don't think Super ends anytime soon, mainly due to the revenue the series is generating. But this upcoming Arc will tell the story. It will define Super for me as a series. Years from now I hope to look back at Super positively but it all depends on what is to come.

Here's my take on this. Super will be looked at as what happens when Toriyama doesn't give his best/all. And post analysis will not be kind...

Much of what made the original Dragonball flow was the the intricacies of the story and plot. By that I mean the small details of the battles swayed the outcomes and made it engaging. Now, with Super those details are lost and the plot points don't flow smoothly or feel well connected. Seeing a character get repeated pounded and then suddenly turn around and hammer that same previous opponent loses meaning without scenes like the Vegeta/Zarbon exchange. In an age of much better options non Dragonball fans will look at it and go "What?"
I think fans are really discounting the amount of information we have of the overall world that we apply to the series. Things like hybrids have more potential and zenkais are used by us to fill in the narrative gaps but that's from years of watching Dragonball... not everyone is going to have that same knowledge or experience attempting to watch Super for the first time.

But isn't that how people look at super currently?, i mean i may like it but there's no doubt that Toriyama is not at his 100%.

Beerus Arc 7,5/10
ROF Arc 5.0/10
Champa Arc 7.0/10
Black Goku Arc 8.5/10

Overall a good series till now ;) if the next arc's will be good or better than the series will become overall great...

No often when you give criticism you will hear people deflect it by critiquing Z. Something I find odd. People didn't critique Z by saying well if you think that's bad look at the original Dragonball. We saw progression in both the manga and anime the artist when involved, evolved his style and story. It's like trying to make excuses for a grown man talking absurdly but saying he was worse as a 5 year old... it's just a very bizarre hand waving process that goes on here.

Anyway I don't think I can ever forgive the partial Toriyama aspect of Super. I like a bunch of the movies and parts of GT but I found that I like the parts which he has little to do with. I don't like any of the initial character designs of GT save maybe Goku and the idea of the Grand Tour. My favorite parts of GT all take place on Earth. Anyway less 100% seems to always be bad and way worse than if he wasn't involved at all. I'd rather take 0% Toriyama than 50% any day.

People critique Z when people act like certain problems are inherent to Super instead of being a dragonball problem.

I made a bet with Alee9977 that Vegeta won't be beaten quickly by an opponent. If I lose, I switch my avatar to Vegeta getting beat by hit. If I win, he switches it to Vegeta holding Black by his hair. This will last a month.

Not intentionally, they don't. Lots of people were exposed at such a young age that they're still blind to the problems with old Dragon Ball. I certainly was until I read through the manga, which was foreign enough that I could view it without bias.

In such a situation, the necessity of critiquing Dragon Ball Z increases exponentially due to the need to provide exposure to those flaws and enlighten the other individual.

There are certainly elements which are problematic throughout the franchise, but lets not also act as if each instance carries the same weight or impact on the overall narrative. Some elements being mediocre at best does not justify a further drop in quality in that element. Super does somethings better than its predecessors, it just depends on what you're looking to personally get out of the series which will dictate your view of it. In my opinion, the traits the series is known are not nearly as strong in Super.

My feelings about Super are rather mixed.

The things I liked about it were:
: Beerus and Whis are great characters and therefore I loved the battle of the gods and the Champa arc.
: Vegeta is at times rather hilarious (cooking scene, remember?)
: Bulma is a boss and i love her parties.
: Pan is adorable
: Future Trunks returning really saved the show for me.
: Zamasu was a rather interesting villain I really hope to see again someday.

Things I didn't like about super were:
: The inferior animation is an eyesore at times, it can never hold a candle to the animation of DBZ, and unless they get any better in the future It never will.
: Ignoring some of the most popular characters like Tien, krillin, Piccolo etc....
But I guess that will be solved in the next arc. (hopefully)
: No character development for Goten, I mean why is he even around?
: Lots of plot holes and bad storytelling.
: Chichi looks old while Bulma looks way too young, again bad animation.
: Trunks and Goten are teenagers but still look like 7 year olds.
: Gohan has become a rather dull and uninteresting individual, I hope that will change in the next arc.

So there you have it, I have a hate/love relationship with it, the next arc will determine if it will be either love or hate for me.

In Super's defense we got a hint of EoZ Goten in the Hit filler arc with him saying Great Saiyaman is lame and saying that he'll kick Hit's ass to revenge Goku.
I'm just a DB fan that's in the grey area that exists between an Hardcore Fanboy and a Casual :P
