Yeah, sorry! I tend to mix those two. I feel stupid now.

I see some trying to make this an in-universe explanation, but I really think it's simply meant to show the transition to his other form. Just an animation technique. I don't think he has to focus on the color of his form constantly to keep it Gold, I think it was just him slowly regressing backward.

I also agree with OPs theory. Didn't feel like I needed to post here, but finding 3 pages worth of discussion after the weekend changed my mind.

Of course other characters have a color progression during their transformations as well, but Freeza - unlike the others - stated that he chose the golden color to make it easier for them to understand (i.e. mock them)

I meant before he turned Golden. Since we don't have another name for that transformation i used that out of convenience.
