It'd be nice if they took bytes from previous titles or the series itself to fill out the Tenshinhan character's Japanese dialogue in future Dragonball games . . . you know, out of respect . . . but I suppose that's not realistically possible (given that there's already a new Muten Roshi).

I can't imagine another Tenshinhan, though . . . well, other than his English counterpart, of course.

I think I'll go watch some Tenshinhan saga now.

They. can't. do. that. ><

Well, technically, they can, but.. this girl would not be able to stand hearing another man play her Ten.

Heheh, i need to get more Dragon Ball (er, as in not Z.)

If anyone knows Japanese here, please put up a translation of what Mr. Suzuoki is saying. It'd be much appreciated.
Ooh, thank you for the link! I would be happy to try and translate that.<<< scratch that... I have not the skill to do that yet.. ^^;;

Uh... The first sentence is, "I'm Suzuoki Hirotaka." XD;;

Does anyone know the cause of death? To die in your fifties in this day and age is unusual unless you where suffering from a serious illness (i.e. Cancer, AIDS, Diabeties, etc ).

Hirotaka Suzuoki's death was reportedly caused by his severe lung cancer (According to Ken Productions, the talent agency which had him as their client).

I'm probably screwing this up, but it's late so bear with me:

"This is the fairytale for when you die.
The smoke wets your eyes.
The stage, a somber cremation..."

...And that's sort of where I left off, the next line had something to do with "everybody's special feelings". This sounds familiar though (the dialogue, not the voice for obvious reasons.)

Just because Muten Roshi has two voice actors means nothing. It's definately possible for archive recordings. Look at all the video games that have done it all ready (Kingdom Hearts II for one)

Man, this really, really sucks. I always thought he was a great voice actor as Tenshinhan, and not only did he voice those anime characters everyone here has mentioned, he also voiced Signas from Mega Man X, who was one of my favorite characters from the franchise. R.I.P.

Farewell Hirotaki Suzuoki. I will always remember the work you did for Tenshinhan and other anime series you worked in.

He'll be sorely missed by thousands of anime fans, myself top among the list. As far as I'm concerned, he was Tenshinhan. There's no other voice for him.

RIP... He was a great voice actor, I really enjoyed his performance as Tenshinhan. May you rest in peace, Hirotaki Suzuoki-sensei. :cry:

This has nothing to do with Dragon Ball, but who will voice Giovanni in Pokemon?

As for the new game, it is possible that they can use his voice from archive recordings. This is only if he hasn't recorded them before passing away. It won't be the same thing without him. :cry:

A large percentage of men in Japan smoke. I think for them it's still seen as a very "manly" thing. They certainly don't have the whole "ban smoking from all public establishments" craze that we have here.

I remember once, how Akira Toriyama himself mentioned in the intro of one of Dr. Slump tankoubon, that "how nice it felt to let the fresh, coubtry side air to run down his nicotine-scarred lungs." I don't know whether it was just a joke, but I suppose that he was a smoker too.

Also on the side note, I don't think men in Japan smoke because it's something that'll make them appear more macho or anything, but due to the fact that they lead much stressful lifestyles. Knowing just how much work he put in, while working on Dragon Ball, I wouldn't be too surprised if Toriyama himself is an avid smoker.

Well, in tankobon #10, before the start of chapter 115, there's a one-page short story by Toriyama, called "True Story: Me Back Then". In one of the panels, he can be seen (in a motorcycle helmet... ROFL :lol:) kickin' back with some iced coffee and a nice li'l ciggy. Of course, this is a humourous... thing... so, I wonder if it really applies. :?:

Tsukento wrote: So he also provided Sakaki/Giovanni's voice, hm? Looks like he definately won't be talking again now. :s
There's no real reason to think that. Several characters in Pocket Monsters have changed seiyuu for several reasons, so there's no real reason to think the same won't be with Sakaki. Though it'll be odd hearing him with a different voice. :cry: Same with Tenshinhan.

Oh man! I didn't even realize it but he also did the tournament announcer from late DB!!! Wow, Now I'm even sadder.... I mean even though the voice was different for dragonball, the announcer is such a staple character of the series (bias)
