Good point. One hit from Jiren might not been enough to knock her off completely, but instead take her out of SSJ Berserker mode. However, Kale's whole "Broly-clone" thing is key point to her character, so if she doesn't use that anymore, then what's the point of keeping her in the tournament?

I'm fine with Jiren getting rid of her in the beginning of the tournament. Rather than having endless episodes of casual fighting leading up to some big confrontation between the final 10-5 fighters would make the TOP boring in the long run, so I appreciate this effort to fill the whole tournament with cool surprising events like this one and the shocking Krillin event.

The way I see it going down is like this: Jiren 'defeats' Kale knocking her out of the SSJ form, Caulifla comes to her aid which she's barely conscious similar to what happened when she first transformed, gets a zenkai, goes into her slimmed-down form later on.

Wouldn't be upset if she actually does get ringed out, though. I'll take solace in the fact that it took someone on the level of Jiren to put her down.

I don't know. Spoilers says without a word. Goku at least got a "Get Lost" from Jiren.

Well that ban was unnecessary anyways it depends on what jiren does to kale.
Given what's at stake there's no reason for him to just leave kale there without tossing her out of the ring.

There isn't only her "berserker form", there's also this:

Exposition doesn't automatically mean hype. She did need to get some exposition just so people would know she's meant to be Broly. What's wrong with that?

It's only the Brolytards' unrealistic expectations and opinions of their favorite's strength that can lead to any sort of disappointment. No one who's a realist could for one minute think that Kale has got what it takes to throw down with the best of them.

Also yeah, she's probably going to appear in future arcs too.

How so? You mean "a Broly who's not the strongest character present"? Haha, I can actually agree on that, since Broly being the strongest character present was basically the only thing he had going for him. Broly being the strongest and never losing is strictly integral to his fans' perceptions of him, they're kind of like narcissists demanding validation all the time, otherwise their self-esteem plummets. So yeah, Broly isn't Broly if he gets defeated fair and square (because yeah, obviously his two defeats in the theatrical movies were not fair and square).

Because Kale is completely uninteresting and devoid of character. At least Broly has the in-universe plot point of being under constant sedation by his father which is a fairly twisted and knarly idea to begin with. There's no real back story at all for Kale or why she's constantly hiding in the background. You may not like Broly's origins, but at least there was an attempt to put a coherent backstory together. So far it looks like they literally didn't even try at all with her or really any of the characters.

You're right about that. But keep in mind that the tournament was announced rather abruptly, there hasn't been much time to explore the characters' backstories. If the U6 Saiyans feature more in future arcs, this might well be fixed.

I find it funny moderators allow this topic to exist when it should be in the announcement discussion board. But lock my topic discussing Toei hyping of Krillin because they knew he would be the first to exit.

We get to things as we get to them; please remember that Kanzenshuu is not our full-time job. You can help by reporting posts, which brings things to a moderator's attention much more quickly (which is, in fact, how this thread was brought to my attention).

Indeed, this does not seem as if it is worth its own thread. Please consider the "Official Announcements" thread if it truly is an official announcement, and/or the recent all-encompassing "spoilers" thread if appropriate.
