Worst new character in DBS

Kale. I'm a pretty vehement Broly hater, but I was willing to give Kale a chance when she was first introduced. I really hoped Super would do her character justice, and fix up all the stupid crap from the Broly movies. Sadly, she was made even more unbearable than Broly.

You know, I absolutely hate Broly. Yet, I find myself loving Kale a lot.

I just noted this on twitter, but it warrants saying here too. It's odd that Kale was created in the first place, she doesn't seem to serve any purpose besides being Broly. Literally everything about her is set up in such a way where there are constant devices in play that can make her approximate Broly. Wouldn't it have been simpler and more appealing to the fans if they'd just canonized Broly similarly to how Star Wars has re-canonized Thrawn. With the multiverse in play, it would've been ridiculously more efficient to create a new backstory for Broly rooted in Universe 6, and continue from that point.

Just a thought. I don't actually care very much, but that's how I go about it.

Yeah Kale is doing nothing for me. Never really liked Broly and I do not like Kale. Her voice really annoys me as well.

Out of curiosity, what do you like about the voice? To my ears, it seems like borderline baby-talk, only louder and more shy, but a bizarrely annoying, in-your-face shyness, not the cute shyness that they're clearly going for. Is it just because the voice actress has range? I'll give her that, but it's not being put to very good use with Kale.

I totally understand what you're saying. If you have listened to Yukana's(Kale's seiyuu) other performances though, her tone is more or less the same. And, I really like that tone. I don't know, I think it fits Kale or maybe I'm just biased towards shy characters. And, she has also got the range as you said.

Kale is by no means her best performance, far from it infact. She can do a lot better, but I don't think she's a miscast.

But on a positive note I will say that the best new character in DBS is Caulifla. It's weird since she wasn't hyped at all and Kale was hyped as the female super saiyan, but Caulifla came out of nowhere and is awesome IMO. How her writing is handled in terms of power-ups though is meh.

But on a positive note I will say that the best new character in DBS is Caulifla. It's weird since she wasn't hyped at all and Kale was hyped as the female super saiyan, but Caulifla came out of nowhere and is awesome IMO. How her writing is handled in terms of power-ups though is meh.

I agree. Caulifla was exactly what I wanted from a female Saiyan, but I hate how she keeps being given bullshit power-ups.

Frost. They absolutely killed what could've been such a fun opportunity with good Freeza. I guess I'm glad they didn't give themselves a chance to overuse him, but... jeez, is he the most redundant thing in the multiverse. Especially so now that Freeza is also here. There has been some potential foreshadowing for a Freeza/Frost alliance, I won't set anything in stone, but as of now, Frost has to be the worst.

Kale is certainly pushing it, though she's not relevant enough for me to call her the worst, unless something's changed since I dropped Super, which was only 3 weeks ago.

Maggeta is the best, btw.

If you watch episode 100 you'll see why people are saying Kale. Broly made them money so they wanted to make another version of him.

Such garbage fanservice it was cringe worthy. It really was. I had to mute my screen due to the annoyance and just read the subs halfway through.

18 is such a hypocrite. Krillin saves her because she let her guard down yet she berates him for the same thing? Krillin should have called her out. He would have won good bro points. Such trash. Didn't like how she was written this episode.

No I don't decide criteria. Picking fodder useless characters who contribute nothing to the plot isn't an interesting answer. Choosing characters that play a role in the story stimulates much more dialogue, which is the whole damn point of these forums.

I didn't care for Botamo in the U6 tournament but I've oddly been liking him more this time around. He had no personality in his first appearance and his fight with Goku was the worst animated fight of the U6 tournament, so that's probably why.

But now he's kinda fun especially with Magnetta.

When did that happen as I recall she only obtain ssj-2 weeks ago and you still haven't gotten over that

I like shy girls and shy characters in general. Kale is the archetype played up to annoyance.

I think Kale is bad at the moment though I do think if she gets control over her form she'll be a better character. Until that possibly comes though, she's pretty bad to me. Though I think this saga has puts Vegeta and 18 over her for me. I don't dislike any of them, but I find myself being less and less interested in Vegeta and 18 this saga and their dialogue is reaching the point of me disliking them.

Perhaps I should've worded that better. I dislike how she attained SSJ2 in a nonsensical fashion mere minutes after becoming a Super Saiyan for the first time, and I'm not a fan of the prospect that she could attain SSJ3 less than a day later, as stated by Goku.

I did get over SSJ2 for the most part, but that SSJ3 comment irked me.
