I vaguely remember most of GT, but why was Goku bad in the Super 17 arc, besides not realizing he was making Super 17 stronger? I remember this version of Goku literally lecturing Frieza and Cell on how to properly fight.perucho1990 wrote:Goku in the Super 17 Arc and Shadow Dragons Arc was probably the worst version of Goku, even lower than his Future Trunks self

It seems Dragon Ball has grown on me so much that I can't leave it alone." - Akira Toriyama on Dragon Ball Super

That lecturing fight was horrible too, first off because Freeza and Cell were specifically written in those scenes so as to provide Goku with an opportunity to talk shit about them. Canon Goku would never do that, but neither would canon Freeza and Cell fightbso sloppily.

Since the Namek saga, Frieza fights sloppily and gets his ass beat all the time.Saturnine wrote:That lecturing fight was horrible too, first off because Freeza and Cell were specifically written in those scenes so as to provide Goku with an opportunity to talk shit about them. -> Becomes desperate and gets sliced to pieces by Trunks
-> Stomped by Pikkon
-> Falcon Punch'd by Adult Gohan
-> Too dumb to realize the limitations of his gold form, and subsequently beaten to a pulp by Vegeta
-> Absolutely wrecked by Toppo
The guy relies on raw power all the time. When he's overpowered, he throws a tantrum, which makes sense because he's untrained. Frieza has a whopping 4 months of training experience in his lifetime.

That's all good and fine, but I wouldn't really include those filler examples here. Most of Freeza's non-canon appearances (GT included) were designed to make him look bad and demonstrate just how much higher everyone's powerlevels have gotten. I'm not saying he's without personality flaws, but the filler makes him look downright pathetic. At least in Super he's relevant, despite all the beatings he's taking.fadeddreams5 wrote:Since the Namek saga, Frieza fights sloppily and gets his ass beat all the time.Saturnine wrote:That lecturing fight was horrible too, first off because Freeza and Cell were specifically written in those scenes so as to provide Goku with an opportunity to talk shit about them.
