We finished season 1 , awesome set will watch season 2 tommorow onwards. Now an issue I have e is the cover. If you book that separate (I didn't) this is season 1



In the dual boxset the discs are still that as cover

The issue? He's only ssj4 like a 30 seconds at the end of the last disc.

Could be better imo. I understand it's an old cartoon but like my nephew watching not everyone has seen GT. Hell it bombed on TV so it's not even like Z where you can assume only fans will buy.

It's not a spoiler persay but it is false advertising.
Cost me £40 to get 2 seasons and a movie. That's a good price.

I agree but I do think it's a spoiler for the few that don't know SS4 before watching GT. I do see why they do it, since SS4 'sells'. That alternate cover you posted is a whole lot better. I would add Pan and Trunks to it though.

The 5.1 sounding awful downmixed to stereo.

I'd guess it was a MangaUK authoring error.

You sure? The DVDs say who authored them, for example the Kai ones were by Madman and so were the Dragon Ball Saga Sets repackaged as yellow "Season" bricks.

I'm not sure sure who but in 5.1 on season 1 half of the boxset people sounded sounded muffled or underwater on certain words ect... But when I swapped to USA broadcast those words were fine we ect.....

We are on the final arc now. Lol my nephew found it odd that freezer cell were in hell that was as he saw super first and frieza's hell was very different lol

Also years watching it never realised. Dr gero escaped hell , but was still an android. But frieza in hell is final form not cyborg. That inconsistency bugs me more than most in GT lol. No idea why but that just bugs me.

Gero would have been so easy to 'fix' since I believe it was mentioned he modeled his cyborg form after himself. I don't recall him actually fighting in GT so it would just be a case of removing those energy absorption things on his hands.

IIRC Freeza was always shown in his non-cyborg form after Trunks kills him. He also appears in final form in movie 13 I believe as well as in the end of Z. Guess that's how the afterlife works. (Even though they said after Raditz' death that all bad guys would be reincarnated and turn into those little cloud guys)

Oh but I do agree with you. Seeing human Gero would actually fit in with the theme of GT, growing up. We see all those characters in a different light due to their ages and seeing him as a human with a semi-new look would be great.

Finished today. The special / move on same disc with last 3 episodes is Intresting as it splits the Manu into 2.


Overall now I've seen all of part 2 my final thoughts is while season 1 had audio issues £40 for 64 episodes and a special is damn good money. The box itself is nice a d everything in its own tray. The dub is enjoyable and the them song is catchy

If I had to rate I'd give set 9/10. Now you could argue quality of the show isn't that good but I knew what I was getting with GT so that's an irrelevant point for people who've seen before


Next I'm thinking of getting the Movie boxset of 1-13

FUNimation did a good job with the Green Bricks but they should have left the GT rap on the Menza score dub which they didn't. On Z, they always* play the Faulconer opening if you watch the English dub but then the episode's music is the original score (Kikuchi).

* The only time CHA LA HEAD CHA LA was used with the FUNi dub was on the Dragon Boxes Z else.. nope.

Team Faulconer never did a full sized opening that synced to Head Cha La or We Gotta Power. The closest thing is the remix of the Faulconer theme used with Z Movie 8. The main dub theme, used with most of the classic Z movies as well as every Z episode from the Orange Bricks onwards (with the exception of the Dragon Box Kikuchi mix) was composed by Menza IIRC.
