For sure, I will!
Altho, I am a bit fatigued from the franchise. The original manga and DB/Z adaptation are the best, altho more and more slog to watch through with how it is paced nowadays and seeing it for countless times. Reading and re-reading the original manga is still awesome.

Super kinda extended the "golden Z era", even tho not perfect, that felt like being cut short with GT in my childhood perception.
Super Hero movie was fun... but with Daima, shit got into the fan and I've started to be overwhelmed by extra content, that is not on par with the OG show and not that interesting. I was probably overhyped for Daima, which didn't help... I went into SW Skeleton Crew with zero expectations and was actually satisfied with what it was.
Feels like all the cool and signature stuff was done and now the franchuise is just recycling itself, with the craziness of DB Heroes being actually one of the most interesting things to happen to the franchise besides Super continuation in manga with extra non-adapted stories.
But on the anime front, I feel like I am done :)

Not playing it safe, changing story beats, era and the least they can do, radically change design from the same clothing they wear from second half of Z in pretty much everything might help. In this regard, I view GT looking back more favorably then I did in comparison to just DB and Z, just for it being completely it's own thing design-wise, happening after the epilogue and still, having the killer ending to the series as it kinda robbed Z of it in comparison with the manga.
While it might break the franchise in a way that the horrid Saint Seiya Omega spin-off did, I grew tired from the modern stacking up the sameness all the time and not coming with anything new... be it techniques or character growth. Not to mention recycling transformations by palette swaps and constant callbacks.
Not sure if it's a generational thing, but the Japanese "creative" side of sticking to traditional, not changing status quo and thinking that fans will go oomph for a SSJ4 just because it is a SSJ4 from GT and we "didn't see it coming outside of GT, wow!" gets kinda old and tiresome.
Not looking much forward to see Freeza again in the future and getting Black, Platinum and Purple forms as suprise power ups.

For me, the show ended with the original story and I am here for the bonuses and some speculation fun in the fandom, but with all the clichés and low effort, I will happily wait for the day and hopefully won't die before that happens, that I might see something new in the franchise that will genuinely surprise me.
That the master behind the work left us doesn't help :( But I will stay optimistic.
They can definitely still produce great games tho :)

Not a generational thing. Modern anime in general is still plenty creative and no more derivative than anime from past decades (60s, 70s, 80s, etc anime all having their own tropes and art styles and character archetypes that were often recycled).

I have to say, I haven't seen much of modern anime and am usually turned down by the tropes. Dragon Ball was lightning in a bottle for me, mostly the artstyle.
But for example, I am not a fan of Gundam Witch From Mercury... I did like Iron Blooded Orphans tho.
Will be happy for some tips on really good anime. I am currently going back and watching some of the Sentai shows on my bucket list.
Dairanger was awesome, OhRanger outside of designs not much and now going through Zyuranger (mindless fun, great iconic designs).
The older with more stuff I've seen, the harder it is to impress. Outside of the classics like DB, Saint Seiya, Gundam, Batman and Star Wars, I did enjoy The White Lotus series... but not much of new or recent stuff that impressed me lately.
I do like Gintama a lot.

I definitely will.

Like people have already said in this thread, the trick is to not overload my life with Dragon Ball, I've made that mistake before and actually left the fandom for years after Super ended, and I refused to even play the videogames, which I always loved.
But sure enough the passion for it always comes back eventually.

Obviously having watched a lot more anime and having read a lot more manga I have a very different perspective on Dragon Ball, in some ways I appreciate it less than I did before, but in other ways I appreciate it a LOT more than I ever did, knowing the historical context of the time it was published and just how influencial it was for everything that came after. There's clearly a world before and a world after Dragon Ball, and I'm not just talking about it in context of the manga industry but pop culture as a whole.

Of course new releases like Super, Broly, Super Hero and Daima helped a lot in bringing back my passion for the franchise as the years have gone by, I don't know if new releases in a post Toriyama world will be as interesting to me, but if anything, they could still be a good excuse to dive back into the franchise and do a re read of the manga and appreciate it even more

I don't really know enough about your tastes so it would be hard to give recommendations, the point was just that being trope-y and following trends isn't at all unique to modern anime. 60s anime were often largely cut from the same cloth, 70s were the same, etc. It's just a matter of which set of trends you like best. If you look at seasonal charts of older decades, much of TV anime was always pretty dire. The 80s had a few good shows like Dragon Ball, but there were much greater numbers of adaptations of classical literature (which I generally find boring and suffocatingly wholesome - the adaptations, not old books in general) or shows about anthropomorphic animals aimed at small children. Since you enjoy sentai series, it seems that you like team-based action series, so maybe you'd enjoy Goblin Slayer for a good recent anime.

I've never stopped being a fan. I started at the age of 7 and I'm now 32.

Although at this point I've watched Z so many times I've become less patient with some of the filler. There's only so many times someone can watch Fake Namek afterall. This is one of the reasons why I've come to appreciate Kai all the more.

I also tried rewatching Super a while back, but dropped off after struggling through the retellings. Those episodes are seriously rough, not just for the animation but the annoyingly slow pacing of the fights. Goku vs Beerus has them both randomly stopping to talk so many times that it undermines any excitement.

Funnily enough I really enjoyed GT when I last watched it a few years ago.

OG Dragon Ball has some boring stretches, but overall goes by fast enough, and is pure gold from the 22nd Tournament onwards.

I didn't take Daima too seriously and enjoyed it for what it was.

There's some areas of the franchise that I'm lukewarm on, but I'll never get tired of the core story.

I think the manga of Dragonball (and I do mean Dragonball and Z) is probably the best way to re-read the series. I love the anime, but it's also very much a product of its time in ways that doesn't really hamper the manga. And the slow pacing to obviously stay behind the manga does hurt its pacing. With most modern day shounen doing seasonal airings, it probably is hard to go back.

Like, I decided to re-read Z and I was able to do it in less than a week. It's so goddamn fast paced; literally all killer no filler.

I think this is both true and false. Filler like Fake Namek and all the cut aways during Goku and Freeza's fight indeed hurt the pacing. However, filler like Gohan's training, extending certain fight scenes, and additional character moments actually improved the overall story. Despite the manga clearly being a good product, its pacing was often too fast for its own good.

Yes. I have enjoyed Daima, Heroes, everything modern Dragonball has thrown at us because even if it's a mess I'm invested enough on the characters that I can just take it as a fun exercise of thinking "how would I fix this?"

That being said, the future does look kinda bleak in my eyes. Even with Toriyama's involvement, Super Hero, Daima and the Granolah arc all had in common being stories I was enjoying a lot until they take a ridiculous nosedive in the end portion. Without him, I'm afraid fanservice will just run rampant, and I usually did not even care about fanservice but it has gotten to ridiculous points. I was hoping Toyotaro taking the lead could at least result in more stories like the Moro arc -not perfect by any means and veey different from modern Toriyama, but still fun- but the current situation just means it's going to end on nostalgia-obsessed hands either way. Then again all I have to do is take Dragonball less seriously like if everything was Heroes now.

I still have some hope because Daima despite everything was such a better viewing experience than the Super anime which often ended in "that was shit, I can't wait to read how the manga fixes it" and I even ended up quitting when there were less than 10 episodes left. If they have truly learn from their mistakes (specially with things like pacing), I would gladly welcome another anime series, and if they haven't, hopefully I will still have the Super manga and the ocassional movie.

I have moved on from many franchises in the past, it's only natural. But Dragonball would need to fuck up extremely hard to not give me some kind of enjoyment. It should also be noted that not interacting with the fandom does not mean that you stopped enjoying a franchise, and in fact I would recommend it in ones like Dragonball.

Yes. I think so. And there's always the original manga and animes to re watch.
