Your comment reminds me Julian that in French, all the swear words are related to the church and the Catholic religion. XD

"Deuce" is somehow a euphemism for "devil" when used as an expletive. Been around for centuries, and only recently re-popularized by Family Guy.
Wow. Didn't know that. As far as I know, "deuce" means two, so I thought it meant "What the number 2?" Man, are you some kind of language professor or something? :p
Specifically, it refers to the male testicles.
As opposed to what? Female testicles?

I meant to type genitalia. Sue me.

And "deux" is two. According to Babelfish, "deuce" translates to, er, "deuce". Possibly due to the tennis usage, or something.

I'm a girl, and I've never thought of cunt as a particularly offensive word. Of course, my fiance and I use it as a joking insult to each other, so I guess that kind of detracts from the "offensiveness" of the word.

Speaking of assholes, I've never understood why a lot of shows allow the word "ass" but not "asshole." I mean, you'd think an "ass" would be more offensive than a "hole," but that just shows how keen I am on wacky censorship quirks.

Well, the card game where two's are considered wild cards is called "Deuces Wild", not "Deuxs (Deuxes?) Wild".

Isn't "Deuce" latin?

Would you say it to a seven year old girl?

If she were being a little cunt, then fuck yeah I'd call her a little cunt

Really, the ONLY time I've ever used the word is as a joke insult, and I can't think of any seven-year-olds that I would insult for fun.

I agree with Liam that it's definitely one of the most offensive words out there and I'd be taking a crowbar to anyone that called my daughter that, at any age, affectionately or otherwise.

But Deus means godly/divine. My question was if "Deuce" was also latin.

Middle English deus, from Old French, two, from Latin dus, masculine accusative of duo. See dwo- in Indo-European Roots.

There you go.

On the subject of swearing in Funimation properties I've come to a conclusion. With Goku, they really don't need to have him swear. The way his character is, he could be totally clean mouthed, or use a "damn" here and there. While on the other hand Yusuke is a foul mouthed punk pretty much. As for their other shows, i haven't seen them yet.

Meh, I just really don't care about the words people use, whether they're said to me or members of my family. I guess I just strongly believe in the old saying of "words can never hurt me." You can only be offended by something if you allow yourself to, and I just choose not to be offended by most things. If someone were to call my own daughter a cunt (which won't happen, since I choose not to have children), I would certainly think they were strange for saying such a thing to a young girl, but I wouldn't do anything against a person for just saying a word.
