I'm going to go on record as saying that Tenchi Universe was quite possibly the sole anime occasion where the dub was superior to the original.Contra Deus wrote:Yeah, Tenchi first debued on Toonami only months after season 3 of DBZ finished its run. I was amazed at how well-preserved it was.Thanos6 wrote:Could you imagine if Pioneer had gotten their hands on the entire thing and been able to give it the same care they gave Tenchi?
Now THIS is how Funimation should have treated Dragonball

No argument there.Contra Deus wrote:And then there was Shin Tenchi Muyo (Tenchi in Tokyo) which just plain sucked all around.Thanos6 wrote:I'm going to go on record as saying that Tenchi Universe was quite possibly the sole anime occasion where the dub was superior to the original.

I wish the flow of Ocean the Funi with Dragon Ball Z was as smooth as the recent transition of 4kids and Funimation to One Piece (Not that it would take much for a smooth transition when comparing the two dubs). I wonder though, it must have taken a lot of effort to have everything in One Piece's episodes on the Toonami block. Original music, eyecatches, full opening/endings, previews...Maybe it's just the standards of anime on TV compared to back then, or the expectations from the fans after what 4kids did to it.
I think I'll be buying assorted Dragon Ball things for the rest of my life.
