If the TV Specials are going to be released separately (in widescreen), then this means that the movie box will be entirely in the correct aspect ratio. This may justify me purchasing the set (assuming all 13 movies are in it).

Maybe if enough people support the movie box-set, FUNI might possibly realise that there is actually a demand for a product in its correct aspect ratio.

Another great question is:

Why in the hell is Funimation releasing Sonic X, if 4Kids has Sonic X?

Didn't they do that with Yu Gi Oh? 4Kids had the television broadcast rights and Funi got to release uncut bilingual DVD's, right?

Please correct me if I'm wrong. :?

No idea if this is cropped or not but it's still something.
I hope they are not in widescreen.

At one point, 4Kids and FUNimation made a deal where FUNi distributed DVDs of nearly all their shows but Pokemon. Unfortunately, this was before One Piece. :(

Heh, I'll just stick with my 4:3 releases. At least those have more approximate detail. Also, if I'm right in my suspicions about the lengths of FUNi's wide-screen cropping, their Blu-Ray Broly movies will probably have more cropped than the Dragonbox did. If that's the case, any wide-screen/remastered releases of the movies by FUNi is screwed on all counts. I just pray that the Bardock and Trunks specials don't have to put up with this.

There's going to be a movie box? Wow. Hopefully, it'll sell for about 50 dollars or less...

As much as I hate these sets a movie box is somewhat tempting.

That would be so great... :)
Especially series 2.

[OFF TOPIC]
Apparently, the production of the "old" Sonic X DVD's has been stopped, and a new set by Funimation will be out on November 13, but I don't think it will be bilingual. :(

This makes sense because the cropping is supposed to be there.

Better to keep your mouth shut and appear stupid than to open it and remove all doubt.

It's an easy way to get all the movies for a cheap price, I can hunt down the episodes but for some reason I have issues collecting the movies. I probably would end up not buying it anyway which is why I said somewhat tempting. It would end up being a brief thought in my head unlike the shitty season sets.

Double feature... Makes you wonder if that's a mistake on their part it's actually supposed to be Blu-ray... But who said anything about a Movie Box? Source please...

Hm, that Trunks/Bardock feature does sound tempting. They better have an option for playable Japanese score audio w/ English voice cast. I'd be pissed if that doesn't happen...

Also, what is this deal about FUNimation and movie 1? Why wouldn't they be able to put that in a new re-mastered boxset? And that set better have a Japanese score audio/English voice option, too.

You guys DO know that the movie box set, according to previous information shown from trailers, is a centercrop job and not following the frames they should be right?

Or maybe I'm talking out of my ass. I just remember this from smewhere.
For all the flack that FUNimation gets on this forum for their quote about DBZ, there's some modicum of truth to it: a 9-year-old is born every day. Or in some cases, "reborn". DBZ may be a kids' show, but it's been so close to so many hearts all over Japan, America, and quite possibly, even the world.
Either way, at least the movies were MEANT to be cropped. Can't end up THAT bad.

Well, not all of the movies were meant for a 16:9 crop. Just look at the first three movies, those are rendered in a native 4:3 aspect ratio.

Let's just hope FUNimation uses their "magic" to make this work...

Somebody, please show me some information of this "movie box set" you all speak of. I am very curious about this.

Which "first three" movies? The DBZ ones? Those were always meant to be letterboxed, it's just that FUNimation received open-matte tapes.

And with the DB ones, watching the intro in fullscreen makes it painfully obvious it's supposed to be cropped.
