The FUNimation DVDs are just fine. The only way you wounldn't like them is if you're one of these CRAZY DBZ extremists.

I just bought the whole "Frieza" saga on Amazon. I thought I got a pretty good deal, 10 DVDs for $71.56, used. I didn't qualify for free shipping because they were used so that bumped it up to $91.56. Did I get a good deal? I thought I did, but I'm sure some of you know of a dirt cheap, underground Dragonball specialty store (probably just Ebay) that I don't know about.

I really hope it's the The Specials version of "Little Bitch", EX. Not that I'll ever see your music video ... 56k, here.

You talkin' about my DDR track from last year? Nah. Eric Kobet did a video to the original Specials version in the 2nd mix project. The one I got was a cover by Bus Stop (the British pop cover band awesomeness!).

But I did use a bit of Eric's video in mine, so that's KINDA using the original song...

I know nothing about Eric Kobet, or his music videos. I hear he's big in Europe, though.

Seriously, I was just wondering if you were using The Specials version, but then I clicked on the link in your sig ... and read. It's amazing what you'll find out if you actually read before asking a question or making a statement.

By the way, your DVD guide is helping me a bunches. I would be so lost if it wasn't there for me to soak up. I had trouble finding the boxed sets untill you told me to go by the saga names. So ... thank you for both.

My DBZ jucies are flowing again!

Now I'm going to feel foolish for having to ask, but what's so special about a DB Beta? Are you refering to that really old VCR?

Yes. Beta was still superior to VHS but unfortunately, VHS won out.

Oh yeah, I remember hearing about that. How strange that Beta was so unpopular since it was a superior format. But we have DVD's now anyways...

Beta's technology was indeed superior to VHS's, however, VHS had a much cheaper sales price and they marketed their machine better. The manufacturers of the Beta thought that the superior quality of their product would win out. Also anybody who was tech saavy knew the Beta was the best choice and recommended it, but I tend to find when it comes to paying a lower price, people don't care about superior quality. So VHS won out. There's actually a really good explanation of the two machines in that episode of Cowboy Bebop where they receive that tape for Faye and Spike and Jet go to visit that VCR otaku. Plus the scene is one of the most hilarious in the series. :D I do have a vague memory of my parents dragging my brother and I along to Eatons(they were a famous department store chain in Canada that are no longer around), to buy a Beta and I remember it cost them a lot. I think somewhere near $500 CAN., but I do remember that VCR lasted almost a good fifteen years I think. None of the VHS's we've had ever lasted that long! But ya we have DVD now, except I find there are still people who won't fork over the money for a DVD anyway. They say they don't trust DVD players and say they still prefer VCRs! Come on, tapes just don't last that long! Especially if you're going to watch an already rickety 25th generation DBZ fansub 4000 times over! I definitely still use a VCR myself to tape programs and things, but if I want to watch something in the best quality, it's time to turn on the DVD! And believe me, the minute they make an affordable recordable DVD player, I'm only keeping the VCR to watch whatever I haven't replaced on DVD yet! Behold the wonder of watching Goku pummel Freeza in slow motion and stop on all the frames completely captivated! :D

Superior technology is no guarantee of market dominance. The N64 was superior to the Playstation technologically, and the X-Box and Gamecube are both superior to the PS2. Yet Sony dominates everything, due to savy marketing.

Exactly. But apparently the Beta manufacturer didn't know this

Betamax. Please people, is your American induced ADD so bad that you can't even get through the entire word without getting distracted?

I have a feeling that BM was Phillips, and VHS was Sony. Or the other way around.
