Well no, that’s not quite what I mean. If you have any internal filters turned on in VLC, it’s going to modify the outputted image. Better to open the stream directly, without any processing, and save it that way. I personally would use VirtualDubMod to acces the VOB, compensate for the aspect ratio difference (due to the anamorphic encoding), and then save the image.
How would one go about this?

Attempted that, but instead came out with this garbled mess.

Can't seem to view the VOB without it looking like total ass through the whole way through. o_O

One more thing I forgot to mention, the menus for this new Double Feature play the Japanese BGM instead of dub music, hurrah! I guess FUNi's finally realizing that the Japanese music kicks ass.

Here's the last set of comparison shots I going to do. These are in response to the Dragon Box shots that were posted on here.

The Funi pictures(first two at least), look damn good to me.
The series doesn't start with the arrival of Raditz. Stop being lazy and watch Dragonball.

Hooray! About ten years too late, but still nice nonetheless.

Those screencaps look nice, too. That third one is, if I recall correctly, a very fast-moving shot (Vegeta goes from over the horizon to his position in the screencap in less than a second, methinks), so...

I've got a question...What is the Dub Opening they use? I've always enjoyed FUNi's Dub Movie Openings...So I was wondering if they eft them intact or used the same ones from the Season Sets.

Well, for movie five's original dub, they used the minute-long Faulconer opening, so they probably replaced that with Menza's opening theme so that the footage would sync up. As for movie 6, that one has always used Menza's opening theme (the one that is currently being used on the season sets). I believe this film is actually the one in which the tune debuted, if I'm not mistaken.

I'm sure Menza's theme will be used.

If you're talking about movies that had they own original dub opening songs, like movie 8, then here's how I would imagine it's going to go, if the Trunks special is any indication.

English-with-Japanese-Music Track: Either the Japanese opening or Menza's theme.
Dub Music Track: The original dub opening (from the original release).

That's most likely what'll happen.

Woopsie Daisy :P

For some reason I thought Movie 6 had a different opening.

Every movie between 6-13 EXCEPT Movie 8 have the Menza Opening, right?

I don't know if this has been answered yet, but does movie 5 (and any of the other movies, really) still use the American bands for the English BGM? I really liked watching the dubbed version of that movie from time to time.

Same here. Every song they played from the point Goku went Super Saiyan (Change) to Revalations to the credits was spot on.
I completely respect your opinion, and I respect you. I enjoyed discussing this with you, even if I don't completely agree.

We didn't lose any of the American music from Movie 4, so I don't see why we would suddenly start losing it now . . .

Still, confirmation is nice. Anyone?

Unless I'm losing my memory in my old age of 19, only movie 8 and the Trunks special had special dub openings.

I never owned the original release of the Burdock special, and I've avoided the dub music track, so I wouldn't know about that one.

By the way, I've got a request. If anybody has FUNi's old movie 5 DVD, can anybody tell me what Steve Simmons' official translation of the film's Japanese title is? Like, verbatim? Since FUNi's only using one video angle for these things, the original title (and the subs that translate it) aren't on this new release, so if anybody could fill me in on this, I'd much appreciate it.

I checked my copy, and Mr. Simmons titled it as "The Extraordinary Mightiest vs. Mightest."

I hear ya. I HATED Movie 4 and the 2 Specials. But Movies 5 & 8 were really good IMO.

I'm sorry, I wish I could, but I don't have the set yet. I would assume they're all kept. Sorry, though.
