Dragon Ball GT: Season 2 Discussion
Could be worse. They could have done what many other dubs did, and just poorly loop the TV-size english version throughout the scene.DB_Fan1991 wrote:Here's the ending of Episode 64 from the set. It's very disappointing as they kept all the talking, and to those who wanted a full English DAN DAN sorry to say, but FUNi used the Japanese version here.

What I'm finding odd is that they can suddenly use a complete Japanese insert song for BGM, with vocals and everything... for GT, but not any of the Z ones? What's the deal with that? What made Dan Dan the exception?
Whatever, FUNi, I'll take it either way. But you owe me Unmei No Hi in the dub track the next time around.

The dubbed songs are awesome. Why couldn't FUNi do this 6 years ago?
The ending doesn't bother me as much as I thought it would. I was expecting silence and talking, but at least we get the song there, not dubbed but oh well. At least it's nice to know that FUNi doesn't treat ALL of the Dragonball franchise like crap.

Can't wait until people make some rips of the songs, I love'em. Though Sabitsuita Machine Gun is a little weak to me. I think they're using the same singer they used for the Ouran ending. Honestly, not a huge fan of him, but it's pretty decent.

This was what I was hoping for the this final GT set, and Funi have dissapointed me once again. If they could keep the Japanese opening song as the final scene in GT then why did they bother to dub the openings and endings ><
Or better yet dub the openings and endings but not dub that final song...
Just goes to show that Funimation are full of fail when it comes to the Dragonball series xP

I love the English narration and Dan Dan being coupled together, I'm probably not going to have many supporters on this but I thought it was awesome.
On a side note, I have no idea why but I always get choked up when they show the scene of Goku and Goten meeting for the first time.

Brice would've been perfect for all 3 series narrations. He has nice, calming voice, like the Japanese. Not fucking overly dramatic like "OH, NEXT TIME ON DRRRRRAAAAAAAAAGGGGOOOONNN BAAAAAAAAAAALLLL ZEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!!! KRILLIN'S IN DA HOUSSSSSEE"

See, I'm generally of the opinion that Hebert's narration is one of the insanely high points of Funimation's dub.DBHighDefinition wrote:Brice would've been perfect for all 3 series narrations. I'd argue it's one of the most memorable narrator voices in a dub.
Really? I honestly think he's the worst one. When Chandler wanted to sound hardcore in GT, he succeeded. Hebert sort of made me think of a guy who was in his basement narrating to himself. I thought he did a much better job as Gohan.
On the subject of narrators, who was the very first FUNimation one after they took over from Ocean? He narrates the rest of the series until Heert takes over the Buu arc. I liked him, but he did have a voice I could see a lot of people not liking his narration, plus the bad scripts back then.
For all the flack that FUNimation gets on this forum for their quote about DBZ, there's some modicum of truth to it: a 9-year-old is born every day. Or in some cases, "reborn". DBZ may be a kids' show, but it's been so close to so many hearts all over Japan, America, and quite possibly, even the world.
The last shot of ending 4 confuses me. Goku's in his end-Z outfit.
I thought GT retconed his GT outfit as the outfit he wore at the end of Z. Pan's flash back of the tournament where she threw the big guy out shows Goku wearing his GT outfit, sky blue wrap-around top and pink wristbands along with his tan.
And that's another thing, not only is he in his end-Z outfit, he's pale again.

I haven't liked Blue Velvet until recently, and the English version, just made me appreciate this song even more.
Here are the dub lyrics:
I run to the hurricane, a force of nature gone insane!
What seemed impossible is finally realized.
Leave all the fear and the doubt behind.
The moment's now or it's never mine.
There is no time to lose, no room for compromise.
Loneliness, lonely night, drifting away.
As your dreams fill your mind.
Slipping through my arms, fading far apart into the darkness!
Like a shooting star, I will fly into the midnight.
Soaring through the dark, while it's whispering your name.
I won't make it through, I'll reach out to you, I want you.
I am here to prove, I won't let you down, no, no!
It looks I've gone head-over-heels, falling over you.

Machine Gun's decent, would've preferred a better singer. The guy isn't bad, but he isn't the best FUNimation has either. I think the singer is Justin Houston, (Wow, I mixed up the last name.) if I'm not mistaken, he also did the dub from Ouran's first ending.
