Except for fans who now think 16:9 is correct for DBZ, this is certainly the "everybody can enjoy this" release.

My feelings on this release will pretty well be solidified once I know the price point.

I dunno, they used Kyle's narration so who knows, tops though? If these are well done Dragon Box HD remasters? Well all be damned, they may finally a true definitive release on all fronts? Then woo! Audio and true video source comfirmation is what we need. I'm not gonna rebuy the series again, even being a HD whore, not until bigger sets or if the price is really cheap enough. I'll get the first BD tops though. You know tbough, if these are legit? Toei could use them in Japanese release like Geneon did with Funi's 2nd Champloo upscale....

A great new transfer
Probably both music tracks (original and dub)

Sounds like a perfect release so far for both sides of the fanbase.

I was extremely impressed by that trailer, I definitely have high hopes for these releases now! If they're willing to put forth this much effort in the video department, I don't see script re-workings here and there being an impossibility. Here's hoping... :?
This is the episode of when Gokuh enrages himself after Freezer talk shit about Kuririn

I like what I'm seeing so far, judging from that video, I think those colors look even better than the Dragon Box's, which I've always considered somewhat overrated.

You realize of course, it's nearly impossible to get proper color off a handheld camera recording of a projector.

Any colors seen in the cammed trailer aren't accurate to what was actually shown.

Of courses they're not exact colors, but you can still tell which is DBox and which isn't. I'd say we can put some faith in it while we wait on a proper trailer release.

You assume one in the comparison was the Dbox? By what measure? Funi does have filmstock in house for the OP with the credits on it. Nothing in that video says that comparison was with the Dragon Box.

Pinkish skin tones, mainly. And not the DBox itself but whatever the DBox was made from.

Either way, this isn't rocket science. I don't need to know all the little details to say, "This has some promise. I can't wait for a better look."

But once again... camera. Is that 'pink skin tone' because it's the Dragon Box, or because the camera altered the color.

Based on previous experience with when the first DBox trailer was a projection caught on camera compared to the DVDs I'm watching now, I'm going to lean toward "pinkish skin tones" on this one.

If I'm wrong, then whatever. I'll be more worried about whether I like the outcome than what exact source was used.

So now you are judging different cameras at different angles with different room lighting which were recording different encodes?

Cause that makes even less sense than before.

Honestly, I really don't care. I figured you'd have gotten that with my last post. I like what I see, and I'll confirm what I see later with a better trailer.

If you didn't care you likely wouldn't have made 4 posts about it.

Something that caught my interest, was one of the women doing the remastering mentioned painting out bodily fluids. I know FUNimation doesn't do edited releases anymore, but still. :?

She is likely referring to sweat on the filmstock. It isn't as rare as you'd expect.

I recorded the part of Funi's panel where they started talking about DBZ Blu-ray. Sorry for the shakyness in the beginning. I was raising my hands in the sky too
Sweet. Thanks, and this remastering actually looks like something that was done with the Dragon boxes (plus the sky looks blue here). On a side note... those women working on the remastering aren't bad looking, xD

The comparison shots were enough to indicate that at least the colors used for the skin tones and sky weren't the unnatural pinkish and green as depicted in the Dragon Box. Which already gives it the leverage in my view.

Unless the levels on the camera were set wrong making them appear like they weren't pink and green.

Which isn't that uncommon.

Or you know... as I said before, cameras don't capture projected color right in general.

I wouldn't be surprised if that was a subtle reference to the whole "this dude did color correction for softcore porn" fiasco.
It's been done countless times before, but...
