The mixed quality on those eyecatchers are kind of depressing.
Yet somehow not as depressing as the semi-demi-kinda-sorta redub.
On hiatus.

Reminds me all too much of the Dragon Ball GT episodes I noticed last year.

Well, at least those looked somewhat similar... (Except the episode 27-shot. That was WAY too bright.) Those eyecatcher-shots were just too different from each other.

Not quite.

Episode 45 looked like it was left out in the sun and got a faded yellowish color. Episode 26 has a purplish hue. Episde 64 has an AWFUL magenta color to it, making Super Saiyan 4 Goku's fur eye gougingly bright.

Ok, I've had the Season 3 set for a few days now, and I just finished the last episode.

Here's a quick summary of all of the redubbed voices, so people won't have to read through 20+ pages of posts.

Completely redubbed:
- Butta (Burter)
- Dende
- Ghurd (Guldo)
- Ginyu/Frog
- Gyumao (Ox King)
- Mr. Popo
- Nappa
- Narrator
- Oolong
- Raditz
- Tenshinhan (T i e n)
- Vegeta

Partially redubbed:
- Freeza (up until ep. 79. Freeza's Form 3 no longer has the dual voice.)
- Kami (Ep. 76 only)
- Kame-Sennin/Master Roshi (Ep. 88 only)
- Kuririn (up until ep. 93)
- Most of the Namekians & Freeza's underlings.
Nothing matters (in a cosmic sense.) Have a good time.

I looked at the pics from the eyecatchers. I think the eyecatchers only have varying colors, because the colors and brightness levels for all of the actual episodes are the same. The brightness will only change from episode-to-episode is because certain episodes are brighter/darker than others.

Bulma: Of course! I'm not gonna pull a Frieza and screw it up!
Master Roshi: Bulma, I think Frieza failed because he wore too many clothes!

Nah, they're just inconsistent. I see no reason why the background-color would actually be drawn in a different color between episodes. Notice also how the red parts of the logo sometimes are orange. Oh, and you could always just delete that second post...

A quick question about the season sets in general. Do they contain the same start up and endings as the Ultimate Uncut Special Editions (the super long one that is shaded red)?

I tried deleting it, but they said I couldn't, for some reason.

Nope. The opening for both the Dub w/t Japanese music and the Dub w/t TV Broadcast music is the textless Cha-La segment with the Mark Menza instrumental used in DBZ movies 6-7 and 9-12. The ending is the textless version of the Zenkai Power segment with the Japanese song staying in the dub w/t Japanese music track, though the Mark Menza UUE java-lava instrumental is in the TV Broadcast track.

Nope. That seizure-inducing red opening is gone, thank goodness. The only opening video on the sets is the video for "Cha-La Head-Cha-La" and the only ending video is the video for "Zenkai Power."

The ending music that Mark Menza composed for the ultimate uncut episodes' ending credits can still be heard on the broadcast track, though.

EDIT: Darn, beaten to it.

Anyone else notice how the audio seems to be mixed differently in this season set? The BGM & SE seem to be at a much louder volume than before; especially during action scenes, in which they almost overshadow the voices.

Of course, I was watching this on my HDTV which has no surround sound. It just sounds like a different audio mix to me.

Oh yeah, and the video looks significantly worse in many scenes. Whenever the screen shakes during the show, animation lines go all over the place. Goku & Freeza look pretty bad during the end of the Namek fight. But some the video looks great too, to be fair. It's just that damn shaking...

Remember the close-up of Goku shown while Frieza was powering up to his 100% power? His entire nose disappeared. Can you pull the image of it? I believe it's from episode 98 or 99. My computer can't play DVD's.

Yup. When you actually see this in motion, it is really REALLY bad. Those who have seen it know exactly what I mean.

Yea, I agree. There are times when the video looks pretty good. If only the whole set looked like that shot below, all we would be bitching about is the widescreen issue. :?

Find that pic from episode 98 where Goku's entire nose disappears. It's when Frieza's going to his 100% power, and Goku's communicating with King Kai. The screen shakes, and Goku's outline disappears. When you look at it in freeze frame, you can see th his whole nose vanishes!

Yeah, Goku's face during the 100% power up scene was pretty bad. The worst blurring I have seen so far. Yet, this still appears to be the best set overall, even though, for the most part, I think the freeza fight is one of the most boring and drawn out sagas of the whole show. Not to mention the artwork in 3 out of 4 episodes is atrocious.

You know what's also bad? During the final fight between Goku and Frieza after everyone gets sent to earth, the episdoes with good artwork had some of the laziest and worst-looking animation I've seen in DBZ. It was so damn choppy. The animation was even worse than the Saiyan saga.
